Colorado Beer NewsToday is Martin Luther King, Jr Day. Celebrate the man who strove for equality and human rights today. His legacy still lives on today with the echos of his "I Have A Dream Speech". Today we also celebrate the Denver Broncos victory as AFC Champions yesterday. Our Broncos will be heading back to the Super Bowl for the first time in 16 years after beating the New England Patriots 26-16. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, January 20, 2014. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Freshcraft (Denver) - Running from January 25th to January 31st - Freshcraft will host January Stout Week. They've been holding onto a few dark kegs over the past couple months and can't wait to tap them. Come enjoy some of these special stouts. Below is the schedule. Each beer will be tapped upon opening that day at 11am. Come enjoy some of the best in the style! Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - The brewery is proud to announce the beginning of their collaboration series with the beer: "Ferus Fluxus". This is their first installment with Upslope Brewing Company. Ferus Fluxus, means “Wild Flow”. This series will allow Crooked Stave to work alongside fellow brewers to showcase the contrast that occurs from fermenting with Brettanomyces. The concept for this series came about after many late night discussions while drinking beers fermented with Saccharomyces, and the curiosity behind what these beers would taste like with Brett. There are so many fantastic beers being brewed all over the country, and the Ferus Fluxus series gives us a good excuse (and opportunity) to collaborate with their friends at other breweries, as well as continue to introduce craft beer drinkers to Brettanomyces.

Rockyard Brewing (Castle Rock) - This Friday's Jellyman's Deviation is "Jelly the Younger", an insanely IIPA weighing in at 11.5% ABV. This special brew will tap at 4pm on Friday, January 24th.

Arvada Beer Company (Arvada) - ABC will be open from 12pm to 10pm today. Since so many of you have the day off they have decided to have Happy Hour all day today! That's right, $3.70 pints and snifters all day! ($4 with tax). Come on down to Olde Town, bring food, or order from one of the 11 restaurants that deliver to your table and enjoy the best price on fresh craft beer in Olde Town!

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - Win FREE Beer for a Year! TRVE Brewing (Denver) - This Sunday TRVE is releasing batch three of Eastern Candle, dry hopped with Citra and topped with thrash metal green wax on the bottles. This one's gonna be best enjoyed fresh, so come and grab some quick! Limit 4 bottles per person. Also, stay tuned for word on their Winter Zephyr release.

Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery (Denver) - Today they open at 4pm and will be releasing Genghis Khan, a 13.5% small batch Russian Imperial Stout. And if you feel like stretching today, they have Yoga in the taproom at 6pm. Sign up for that on their Facebook page.

River North Brewery (Denver) - [PRESS RELEASE] River North Brewery brought home four medals from the 2013 Craft Beer Awards International Competition, winning gold for each beer entered. Hoppenberg Uncertainty Principle, River North White, Quandary and J. Marie all received top honors. This is the second medal for J. Marie in three months. The brewery’s classic farmhouse ale also won a silver medal in the Belgian and French Ale category at the 2013 All Colorado Beer Festival. The brewery bottles Hoppenberg, Quandary and J. Marie in 22-ounce bombers and cans River North White in 16-ounce four-packs. All can be found throughout Colorado. The Craft Awards International Competition evaluates independent distillers, vintners and brewers from around the globe. The beer competition enlists a dozen experienced judges to pick the highest quality brews.

Westminster Brewing Co (Westminster) - The brewery now is offering Happy Hour prices. Get $1 off proper pints and $2 off growler fills weekdays from 3pm to 6pm and all day on Sunday.

Winter Brew Fest (Denver) - Don't forget, Denver's next beer festival is happening this Friday and Saturday, January 24th and 25th in Denver at Lower West Colfax and Zuni inside Mile High Station. VIP (6pm-10pm), General Admission (7pm-10pm) and Designated Driver tickets are still available online at Eventbrite. This event is spread across two days this year. Hurry before all the tickets are gone.

Boulder County

Kettle & Stone Brewing Co (Boulder) - Today's special is $3 pints all day long and double punches on all growler fills. A great way to start off the week.

Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery (Boulder) - Come join Mountain Sun Pub & Brewery, Southern Sun Pub & Brewery, Vine Street Pub & Brewery, and Under the Sun Eatery and Taphouse to celebrate 20 years of business, not to mention the kick off of STOUT MONTH! The FUNK SHOW is February 1st at the Boulder Theater. All proceeds will benefit KGNU 88.5 FM and KGNU 1390AM. This year's performers with The Pearl Street All Stars include: George Porter Jr on Bass, Kyle Hollingsworth on Keyboards, John Staten on Drums, Adam Smirnoff on Guitar, Dennis Marion on Trumpet, Art Edmaiston on Sax, and Kim Dawson doing vocals. Twelve Degree Brewing (Louisville) - Today the brewery is bringing back Treacherry, their tart cherry Golden Strong Ale to their tap wall. Stop in for a glass.

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - This Valentines Day (Feb. 14th) come to High Hops' 2nd Annual Firkin Fest in Windsor, CO. There will be a total of 16 firkins on tap for one day only. In addition, there will be a special Valentine's Day beer release of "Diamana Herb Beer", a beer made with a Mayan aphrodisiac. Also, enjoy some returning favorites: Habanero Honey, and Lemon Ginger Honey beers. Food will be available from Bedrock BBQ starting at 5pm and live music on hand inside in the indoor beer garden from 6-8pm.

Crabtree Brewing Co (Greeley) - Today enjoy $3 pints all day. Stop in early and watch the brewers put together their first Coolship, an open-air vessel made for spontaneous fermentation. They'll be using it to brew up some great specialty beers this year.

Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Did you know that Black Bottle now sells bottles of their own house Hot Sauce? It's called Stinky Hipster and is made with garlic, orange habanero and Hipster IPA. Buy a bottle to take home with you.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Stop in tonight for Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes starting at 7pm.

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Looking for a #Firkin good time? Plan to attend the 10th annual Firki Rendezvous on Saturday, February 22nd, 2014 at Bristol Brewing Company. Tickets are now on sale on TicketFly. This event is a fundraiser for the Colorado Brewers Guild. Over 25 Colorado breweries will be sharing their cask conditioned ales. VIP, General Admission and Designated Driver tickets are all available. The event will open for VIP at noon and General Admission at 1pm.

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing Co (Edwards) - This week begins their fly-tying series, dubbed "Tying One On at Crazy Mountain" with Minturn Anglers! Come join local guide and fly tier, Bob Streb, as he walks through demos of different flies best for our mountain rivers and streams! It'll be hosted every other Tuesday starting tomorrow, January 21st. Crazy Mountain will also have $7 pitchers for all participants!

Two Rascals Brewing Co (Montrose) - Today's special is Taco Monday. Get $3 pints of their craft beer and $1 tacos tonight.

Copper Club Brewing Co (Fruita) - Congrats to Copper Club BC on celebrating their 1st Anniversary over the weekend. May you have many, many more! Tonight they will host a Community Potluck from 4-7pm. You can get $1 off brews during that time.

Edgewater Brewery (Grand Junction) - Today is the kick-off for the Bottled Beer Give Back! We hope you can stop by this week and "have one for the animals". Edgewater Brewery is hosting a 4-day bottle beer give back to benefit Roice-Hurst, from today through Thursday this week. For every $2 bottle of Standing Wave Pale Ale or Lands End Amber purchases at the taproom, $1 will be donated to Roice-Hurst Humane Society. Edgewater Brewery is part of the Kannah Creek Brewing Company family.

Tommyknocker Brewery (Idaho Springs) - For the first time, Tommyknocker's Oaked Bock will be available in 6-packs starting on February 1st, 2014. It's their Butt Head Bock lager brewed with heavily toasted Hungarian oak. It's a big 8% ABV brew and has 33 IBUs.

Ska Brewing (Durango) - Recently, Ska Brewing got together with a brewery in Sweden (Nynashamns Angbryggeri) and brewed up a collaboration beer called "Wipa Snapa", an unfiltered White IPA. This beer was brewed with Sea Buckthorn and Juniper Berries and also with local Colorado hops from Highwire Hops Farm and is 6% ABV. It will be packaged in 22oz (650ml) bottles. Kannah Creek Brewing Co (Grand Junction) - Tonight at 5pm they will be tapping a good old fashioned IPA firkin. Will you be there to get a pint?
