Colorado Beer NewsToday is Beer Can Appreciation Day and Colorado has some of the best beer cans and designs in the nation. This is a day to change your old bottle habit and select a craft beer that comes in a can. Colorado has dozens of breweries who package their beer in cans. They come in many different shapes and sizes too. From 12oz, 16oz, 19.2oz, 24oz and even a 32oz crowler can! Craft beer cans are even collectible too. How many cans do you have? Celebrate today with a canned craft beer, or if you "can't" be sure to have a craft beer on draft at your local brewery or craft beer taproom. Cheers to the weekend! Metro Denver

Lone Tree Brewing Co (Lone Tree) - [Newsletter] Happy National Beer Can Day! In honor of National Beer Can Day, Lone Tree Brewing Company is unveiling their plans to can their beer. Starting this April, their Mountain Mama Golden Lager and Lone Tree Peach Pale Ale will be sold in 12 ounce cans in local liquor stores and restaurants (and of course at the Lone Tree Brewing Company Tasting Room). Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery (Denver) - One keg of Dreamweaver 9.5% ABV Double IPA will be released today (Friday), with the remaining sixtel being tapped on Tuesday. The last sixtel of Genghis Khan 13.5% ABV Russian Imperial Stout will be released on Monday. Enjoy them while you can!

Hogshead DaysHogshead Brewery (Denver) - Welcome to Hogshead Days at the brewery - happening today through Sunday, January 24-26, 2014. This is the 2nd annual event featuring a wide variety of cask ales. Beers on cask include: Window Licker 2012/2013 vertical, Divine Right Imperial Stout, the return of Hog Wild IPA, East India Porter, Old Burton Extra, and the return of Hogshead Extra Stout. Plenty of great tastes for everyone. Hogshead Brewery is located at 4460 W. 29th Ave in Denver, CO.

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - Their Imperial IPA (yet to be named) has a release date: next Tuesday, January 27th. Yeah, it's gonna be good. And, Tuesday also happens to be Growler Fill night - buy a growler fill and get a free beer while you're there. Bring your growler and your love of hops.

Winter Brew Fest (Denver) - Still looking for something to do this Friday night and Saturday afternoon? Tickets are still available for the annual Winter Brew Fest at Mile High Station (2027 W. Lower Colfax). This event is now spread across 2 separate days. Dozens of craft breweries will be pouring some of their best beers and live music will get you in the mood to party. Hall Brewing Co (Parker) - New on tap today - Whiskey Barrel Aged IPA. This specialty brew has been aging since December 2012! Available now at the tap room. Come see what some age will do for a big IPA. Also stop by the tap room on Saturday from 5-8pm for live music from Tony Airozo.

Colorado Craft Beer Show (AM 760 Denver) - Join in at Arvada Beer Company tomorrow from 12pm-2pm for a live remote of the Colorado Craft Beer Show! Guests include William from Beerporium and Brew Trek, Mark the Denver Beer Guy and the crew at Arvada Beer! Arvada Beer will also announce a contest they are doing for labeling their 3rd anniversary beer they will be brewing with That Brewery on Zuni (Strange Brewing). Columbine Label Company is offering a $500.00 credit to the winning artist of their beer label! This is gonna be awesome! Come see them tomorrow at Arvada Beer Co for some hellacious giveaways too!

Boulder County

The Post Brewing Co (Lafayette) - There's a new beer being released today at 4pm. Stop in and try "Big Rosie Porter". The beer is named after their benevolent elk head at the brewery.

Crystal Springs Brewing Co (Louisville) - It's Faculty Friday. Teachers and professors get Happy Hour prices from 4pm to 9pm with your faculty ID.

Avery Brewing Co (Boulder) - Tapping tonight at 5pm - Avery Rum Barrel-Aged Czar Imperial Stout! Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants, and a hint of anise, with added complexity from the year spent in rum barrels. This tyrannical monster is ready to liberate today at 5pm in the Avery Tap Room!

Northern Colorado

Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - When the brewers set out to make another of their infamous "Cereal" beers, they practically clean out the shelves of 1 particular brand of cereal off the store shelves. For their next incarnation of "Cerealiously Milk Stout" they poured in boxes of "Reese's Puffs" to make this a big chocolate and peanut butter brew. Also, some new guest beers on tap including Epic Brewing / Strange Brewing's Epically Strange, and Breckenridge Brewery's Nitro Vanilla Porter.

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Join in today from 3-5pm for The Mayor's Friday Afternoon Club. If you purchase an adult beverage, you will also receive a free stuffed pretzel with dipping sauce! Choose from 100 different beers on tap. Start off your weekend at The Mayor.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Today Verboten opens with the return of a fan favorite - Mantooth Imperial India Pale Ale. This is one of the three beers that they will release in bottles during their 1st Anniversary celebration happening on January 31st and February 1st. Here's a sneak peek at the new label.

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - Announcing their Big Game Potluck on February 2nd at 3:33pm. Loveland Aleworks will be bringing cherry wood smoked pork shoulder brined in American sour ale, rye wit, coriander and orange peel. All with a BBQ sauce made with ale. There will also be some cask ale on tap, a touchdown dance, games, a Best Dressed Fan Contest, prizes and of course the game on TV. Join in!

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Firkin Friday's are back! Every week they will be tapping a new beer in a firkin. Today's tapping is a Dry Hopped Fearless Youth with Mt. Hood hops. The hops bring out a more herbal and earthy undertone to the Munich Dunkel for a soft hoppy finish. Check back on Facebook and Twitter every Friday for their firkin updates.

Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Reminder - today's the day for their Passed Stout release at 5pm. Passed Stout is a big Imperial Stout. Just in time to keep you warm during the colder months of winter! Its body is huge, its dark malt character is huge, its hop profile is gigantic, and its ABV is enormous. It’s basically everything that you would expect from a noteworthy Imperial Stout, and more! They aged this beer on fresh Madagascar Vanilla Beans, Dagoba Cacao Nibbs, and French Oak. 11.0% ABV; extremely rare.

BierWerks Brewery (Woodland Park) - Here's their current taplist. One of these will tickle your fancy: Helles (Blond Lager), Kellerbier (unfiltered lager), MarzenBier (med. bodies lager), Spring Water Pale Ale, Altbier (Dusseldorf Amber), Dunkel (dark lager), Hop Monster (IPA), Porter (dark ale), Ragnarhop (Imperial IPA), and Strongbow Apple Cider. Coming soon: Hefeweissen and Dopplebock.

Mountains and West

Glenwood Canyon BrewPub (Glenwood Springs) - Tomorrow, Saturday January 25th, the brewpub will release their latest brew: Defiance, an English Pale Ale. It's a classic brew made with English yeast and English variety hops for an authentic taste of the Commonwealth. It weighs in at 6% ABV and pairs well with Fish & Chips.

Big B's Hard Cider (Hotchkiss) - There's a new look to their bottled hard ciders, plus a new flavor just released. Look for bottles of Big B's Harvest Apple and Orchard Original coming to liquor stores near you real soon. It's real Colorado hard cider. Certified organic.

Rockslide Brewery (Grand Junction) - Here's a pre-Big Game event on Super Sunday (February 2nd) that runs from 12 noon to 4pm at Rockslide - "Ales for Trails". Join in for an eclectic variety of some of Colorado's finest beers. All proceeds will be donated to Copmoba, the local non-profit that maintains the hiking and biking trail systems that help to make this valley such a special place to live. Featuring delicious beers from: Colorado Boy Brewery, Revolution Brewing, Oskar Blues, Copper Club Brewing Company, Kannah Creek Brewing Company, Palisade Brewing Company, Two Rascals Brewing Co, and a very special release from The Rockslide Brewery and Restaurant! The cost is $10/person for unlimited samples!

Copper Club Brewing Co (Fruita) - Stop in today for a tapping of their new Vintage Common Ale at 2pm. Later tonight, there will also be a fashion show put on my Michelle Cools of the Vintage Common, and music by Never Knows best, and also a photo display by Katie Rice. The keg will be available all day. Fashion show starts at 8pm followed by the music.

Breckenridge Brew Pub (Breckenridge) - Twenty Four, their bourbon barrel-aged Belgian Oatmeal Stout is still available on their secret tap. All you have to do is just ask for one and they'll pour you one.

Ska Brewing (Durango) - Congrats to Ska for being the recipient of "The Spirit of Durango Award" from the Durango Chamber of Commerce. This is to honor them for their generous contributions to the city during 2013.
