Colorado Beer NewsToday is Bob Marley's Birthday. Nesta Robert Marley was born on this day back in 1945 and became one of the most popular Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician. Known for being the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands The Wailers and Bob Marley & The Wailers. Tip back a toast to the memory of Bob Marley today. Metro Denver

TRVE Brewing Co (Denver) - Their staff want you to know something: "Stop being a sissy and brave this BS cold weather for Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers." They've got five gallons of BLOODLUST (Wanderlust Belgo-American Pale Ale with Blood Oranges) going on tap at 7:06pm. Plus, Kris and Jake Wolf will be spinning the best tunes in town. Be there!

Jagged Mountain Craft Brewery (Denver) - While the brewery may have been open for a while now, they hadn't officially celebrated until now. Mark your calendar for their Grand Opening Party on Saturday, March 8th. They'll have food, giveaways, and new beer releases including some of the small batch experimental hops beers. More details to come soon. Located at: 1139 20th Street in Denver, CO.

Nighthawk Brewery (Broomfield) - From the guys who brought you Hustle Paintball, comes word of a new brewery in the works. Coming in late summer (August 2014), look for Nighthawk Brewery to open up at 2780 Industrial Lane in Broomfield, CO. Ethan Hall, President, tells Fermentedly Challenged that "We'll have the staples (standard beers), of course, as well as a fair amount of Imperial beers - plans for sours, gluten-frees, cider hybrids and other creative beers will be following shortly. We will have a taproom from the get-go with the capacity of 49 people. We're shooting for a 10BBL system, but won't be distributing initially. I owned and that will continue to grow and thrive! We'll have about 15 people on shared staff between Hustle Paintball and Nighthawk, swapping staff when necessary and adding on as we grow." - Look for their Facebook and Web site to be up soon.

Renegade upcoming releasesRenegade Brewing Co (Denver) - Renegade is dropping the bomb! This March Renegade Brewing Company of Denver will be launching the Conviction Series, a line of creative beers released in bomber (22oz bottle) format. Renegade currently distributes four beers in cans (Redacted, Elevation, 5:00, and Hammer and Sickle). The Conviction Series will focus on specialty limited release brews ideal for sharing in the bomber format. Four beers are slated to be released in 2014 including Sunday Morning-Coffee Infused American Strong Ale, Alpha Maiden-India Wheat Ale, and Beetnik-French Style Saison fermented with Beets. The fourth beer is still under consideration. The first to be released will be Sunday Morning, due to hit shelves in March. A new bomber will be released every following quarter. Renegade has grown a reputation for brewing beer that departs from style guidelines, going as far as creating new beer styles. The Conviction Series pays tribute to the company's strong constitution and commitment to originality. Renegade plans to continue the convictions series indefinitely.

Elk Mountain Brewing (Parker) - Announcing their first ever bottle release! Elk Mountain has bottled their Ghost Town Brown and will be hosting a bottle release party this Saturday, February 8th in the brewery starting at 2:00pm. Come help them celebrate this big milestone. Sign up for the party on Eventbrite and it will reserve you the right to buy 1 bottle of Ghost Town Brown. Limit 1 per customer.

Our Mutual Friend Version OneOur Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (Denver) - A while back the brewery started working with Jonathan Power of the Populist on a new collaboration beer that would be ever evolving and compliment the seasonally changing menu that the Populist does. After much back and forth they decided to brew a light, straw colored, rye ale that would be kettle soured and then put in various types of barrels with a unique blend of wild yeasts to create a beer that will be brewed regularly, but aged and blended differently throughout the year (and years) to create a series of beers highlighting all the different variables at play. Tomorrow, February 7th at 4pm OMF will tap "Version One", which simply put is the base beer that they are using in the rest of the series. It gives the opportunity to see what the beer is like at the beginning and officially launches the partnership between the Populist and Our Mutual friend. Additionally, Version One will be available at the Colorado Makers Pig Roast, hosted at the Populist this Sunday, February 9th at 5pm.

Hall Brewing Co (Parker) - Today's a firkin day in the taproom. Stop in and try their Pilsner infused with fresh sage. Try something that's refreshing! They've also got a brand new beer menu featuring a Fresh Hop Infusion. You can dry hop any of their draft beers for an additional $3. Ask your server for details. Nine beers on tap, plus beer cocktails available too.

Black Sky Brewery (Denver) - Today is the day they are tapping Groovy TV's Belgian Strong Ale at 5pm. Come in and get a FREE 5oz sample. Also, their Beer O' the Day is: Dry Dock Double IPA. Get some for $3 a glass - limit 2. Also, their Soup of the Day is: Red Chili.

Mountain Toad Brewing (Golden) - What's new on the tadpole tap today? Stop in and try the beer everyone is screaming for. You scream, I scream, we all scream for CREAM ALE! On tap now.

Colorado Plus Brew Pub (Wheat Ridge) - There's two new C+ beers on tap. Stay Puft is a toasted marshmallow porter that will remind you of a S'more. It was put on tap a bit ago, but they forgot to tell the world about it. Also new on tap today is "Dead Honey Bee". A beer made with honey malt and honey. Stop in and try them both!

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - This Friday, instead of having just one Friday Firkin, Dry Dock will host 3 firkins. Each will be a slightly different spicy apricot beers. They'll serve "Lucky", "Dusky" and "Ned" - aka The Three Amigos. They all tap on Friday, February 7th at 3pm. Vote for your favorite one!

Boulder County

Left Hand Brewing Co (Longmont) - Left Hand is hiring again. This time there are 8 job openings including: a Bartender (full time), a part time Bartender, a Packaging Manager, a QA/QC Lab Technician, a QA/QC Manager, full time Brewery Engineer, an Engineering Inventory & Purchasing Specialist, and a full time Brewer. For a list and description of all job openings check out their Employment page on the Left Hand website.

Upslope Brewing Co (Boulder) - The wood barrels full of their Crooked Stave Ferus Fluxus collaboration beer are being emptied now into brite tanks in preparation of their release parties. Look for word on when this collaboration brew will be available. (Soon)

Odd13 Brewing (Lafayette) - It's Foos-n-Brews Thursday down at Odd13 tonight, it starts at 7pm and the winning foosball team receives 4 free pint cards. Bumper Crop will be out serving their tasty New Mexican cuisine, if you haven't had them, tonight's the night.

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - Anyone out there got a case of cabin fever?? It couldn't be a more perfect day to release their "CABIN FEVER" Imperial Red! This 9% ABV strong red ale is aged on rum soaked oak leaving it a little sweet and surprisingly smooth. One 10oz pour should snap the fever outta you! It taps at 4pm today.

The Very Nice Brewing Co (Nederland) - Pints & Poses - what a great way to start a Saturday afternoon! Join in on Saturday, February 8th from 12:30pm to 1:45pm for yoga at Tadasana Mountain Yoga (next door) and then head over to the tap room afterwards for a beer. $15 = class + free flagship pint. If you only have time for the class, you can save your free beer voucher for another day!

Sour Ale Showdown (Longmont) - Plan now to attend The Sour Ale Showdown taking place at CHUBurger in Longmont, CO on Friday, February 14th starting at 10am and lasting all day. Taste the most bittersweet sour beers around! Cast your vote for your most favorite sour ale and the winner will be on tap for a month at CHUBurger. On top of that, they're giving away prizes including FREE BEER FOR A MONTH (limit one a day)!

Northern Colorado

New Belgium (Ft. Collins) - New Belgium Brewing is making history this Sunday when it opens its doors for the first time to tourists and locals. Typically the brewery is closed on Sunday and Monday, but starting this week it'll be open on Sundays as well. The new hours will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the winter months. To celebrate, New Belgium is tapping a keg of Tart Lychee, which combines New Belgium’s barrel-aged sour beer, Lychee Fruit puree, and cinnamon sticks. A celebratory toast will take place at 4pm on Sunday, February 9th in the brewery’s Liquid Center. Also, for those who missed it last weekend, New Belgium hosted their 2nd annual Lost in the Woods party at the brewery. It was an event to celebrate the 2014 release of both La Folie (sour brown ale) and Transatlantique Kriek. They put together a short music video showing highlights of the event. Wiley Roots Brewing (Greeley) - The next beer in their continuing Celebration of Dark Beer will be released this Saturday, February 8th at 6:30pm. This time it's Rocky Mountain Hideout, their very first barrel aged beer they've done. It's an oak bourbon barrel aged porter with aromas of bourbon, subtle cherry and coconut. This is a very limited release and may only last 1 evening. Don't miss out!

Equinox Brewing (Ft. Collins) - At noon today, Equinox tapped a firkin of "Chocolate Mint Eclipse Brown Ale". A great brew for these cold winter days. Stop by and get a glass.

The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - [PRESS RELEASE] The Fort Collins Brewery, along with Gravity 1020 Modern Tavern, is excited to announce their February limited releases, Sweet Tart Pomegranate Stout, Strikin’ It Rich Stout and Big Ben Nitro. Sweet Tart Pomegranate Stout is a dark chocolate beer with a roasted, earthy aroma to it, including hints of pomegranate. Sweet Tart is a brew that starts off with a slightly burnt malt profile and transforms into a somewhat sour sensation. The first of three February limited releases becomes available Monday in FCB’s Tasting Room, Gravity 1020 and a few select bars and restaurants in Colorado. Strikin’ It Rich Stout, the second of February’s limited releases, is an Irish Stout brewed to Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP). This flavorful brew is full of caramel and malt, along with a texture similar to chocolate milk, but is delivered black as a strong cappuccino. FCB will release Strikin’ It Rich Stout on Monday in FCB’s Tasting Room, Gravity 1020 and a few select bars and restaurants in Colorado. The English Style Pale Ale, Big Ben Nitro, is full of floral hop aromas with a strong caramel backbone. The Big Ben Nitro has light fruity esters with a thick white head that resides on top of this light copper ale. The medium hop bitterness and sweet malty flavor is meant to provide balance for extreme drinkability. Big Ben Nitro will be tapped Monday, February 17th only at Gravity 1020.
Fort Collins Brewery February releases

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Make plans now for Fat Tuesday, March 4th for a Mardi Gras Celebration dinner - a Cajun Crab Boil & Beignets at the brewery from 6pm to 8pm. The Road Grill will be preparing a feast with crab, shrimp, spicy andouille sausage, corn on the cob, baby potatoes and a special dessert. Tickets are $35 per person and available in the taproom. A kids meal is also available for $5. There will also be a Mask decorating contest and a Beads contest along with Trivia.

Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Odell really loves your peaches, wanna shake your tree! Tree Shaker Imperial IPA was brewed with 3,000 pounds of pureed Colorado peaches. The bright citrus hop character and subtle fruity sweetness will get your feet tapping and your taste buds dancing.
And for this year's release there will be a TAPROOM RELEASE PARTY! Come by the taproom February 22nd & 23rd and be one of the first to try this years Tree Shaker. They'll have beer, food and live music on Sunday from 3:30-5:30pm. Check the Colorado Beer Releases page for more pilot taproom only brews.

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - There's two beer releases this month that you will want to stop in for. On Saturday, February 8th, try their Raspberry Provincial, a Belgian-style sour ale. They added a heavy dose of raspberries to this sessionable tart beer. Then on Saturday, February 22nd, they'll be serving a "Session Saison", a 5% ABV with a citrusy and floral aroma and with fruity esters and slightly tart.

Southern Front Range

Smiling Toad Brewery (Colorado Springs) - The Olympics start tonight and beer is the color of medals (bronze and gold at least). Coincidence? You decide. Come down for a taste of the gold. They have HowZit Porter, Savoy Brown, Cheshire ESB, IPA Freely, Wee Heavy Scotch, and McFly's Irish Red - all on tap.

Colorado Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) - Stop in and beat the cold weather at either CMB location in the Springs. Both locations host Happy Hour Monday through Friday starting at 3pm.

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Bristol is hosting two traveling firkins this week. The first is tonight at 6:30pm at Jack Quinn's (21 S. Tejon St) and is a Winter warlock aged over whiskey-soaked oak chips. The second firki will be tapped tomorrow, February 7th at 5:30pm at Brewer's Republic (112 N. Nevada) and is a Single-hop IPA with Simcoe hops and pineapple.

Mountains and West

Amicas (Salida) - Many of you may know Amicas for their great food and wood fired pizzas. But Amicas is also known for their microbrews made on-site. Stop in and try one of these brews: Bomber Blonde Ale, Headwaters IPA, Rex's Amber Ale, Big S Brown, and Smoked & Oaked (Brown Porter). They also offer 64oz growlers and have 22oz bombers of Green Chili Ale available. Kegs are also available upon request. They are located at 136 E. 2nd Street in Salida, CO.

WinterWonderGreass Festival (Avon) - The year's first outdoor music and beer festival is coming up for a 3-day event in Avon, CO on February 21st through the 23rd. There will be over 25 bluegrass bands and 15 Colorado craft breweries pouring beers. Tickets still available. Dress for the outdoors and party! Details in the February Beer Fest Calendar.

Grand Lake Brewing Co (Grand Lake) - Yes, the brewery is still producing great beer! The brewery is now self distributing their beers in Colorado. If you don't see their beers at your favorite liquor store please ask for it and they will make it happen. As for their location, they are looking for a new location approximately 10 miles west of Denver. Stay tuned for news on a new location for their brewery.

Tommyknocker Brewery (Idaho Springs) - Announcing their 20th Anniversary Snowboard Giveaway! Tommyknocker is giving away two snowboards. Enter to win at the brewery or online at Limit one entry per person per day. The 1st winner will be drawn March 17th, 2014 at 7pm. If the winner is not present the night of the drawing, they will contact the winner to make arrangements to have the snowboard picked up or shipped. For the 2nd snowboard, starting at 3pm that same day, tickets will be given out to all customers attending the drawing event at the brewery. The winner of the St. Patrick’s Day giveaway must be present at the time of drawing to win. Happy hour prices will be in effect from open to close on the day of the drawing. Traditional Irish fare, TKB swag, shirts, and beer giveaways will take place between 3pm - 8pm. There will be green beer, free brewery tours, and live music from Pick Axe Posse 3 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Telluride Brewing Co (Telluride) - Their lead brewer's 1st Pro recipe is being tapped tomorrow, Friday February 7th at 4pm. It's called "Dank in the Dark", a Black IPA. It's brewer Sam's pride and joy.

Dillon Dam Brewery (Dillon) - For Tap It Tuesday on February 11th at 5pm, Dillon Dam Brewery will tap a 5 gallon batch of "Raspberry Chipotle Stout". It's an Irish Stout aged with raspberry & chipotle chiles. Get a $5 half pint serving while it lasts.
