Colorado Beer NewsToday is Winter Olylmpics Watching Week. The Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia have begun and will run through February 23rd. There are dozens of events planned and almost every one of them will be televised on multiple TV channels. What is your favorite winter sport to watch? People here in Colorado will most likely be focusing on skiing and snowboarding events as our state has many Olympians represented in those sports. Whether you're into curling, biathlon, hockey, figure skating or just can't get enough of the Olympic anthem - this is a time for you! And what a better way to watch the games than with a pint of your favorite craft beer. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, February 10th, 2014. Metro Denver

Valentine's Day Dinners & Pairings (Statewide) - Looking for a great spot to take your Valentine out for a dinner or a great food/beer pairing? TRVE Brewing (Denver) - It's finally here! This Sunday, February 16th at 2pm, TRVE Brewing will release with "Winter Zephyr" beer, a black sour ale. It's the third in their Mythological Occult Ale series. Winter Zephyr has the most potent acidity of the series along with some citrus and roast similar to cold-bred coffee. This is a bottle release and there is a 4 bottle limit per customer. Cvlt members get early access at 1:30pm along with discounted pricing. Sour fans won't want to miss this release. Parry's Pizza (3 Locations) - Do you remember last year's Big Ass Tap Takeover with Avery Brewing at Parry's Pizza with the massive 30 different beers on 30 taps? Well, it's back again for another go this year and it's been scheduled for Saturday, April 26th at 3 Parry's Pizza locations in Highlands Ranch, Greenwood Village and Castle Rock, Colorado. They will have 90 Avery beers across three locations (30 taps each). It's gonna be the biggest tap takeover event for 1 brewery of the year. There will be several hard to get Avery beers on tap. And #AleYeah members will get access to some bottled rarities as well. John Turk will bring his radio program "Colorado Craft Beer Show" to the Highlands Ranch location and do a live show there once again. Come thirsty and come hungry too as Parry's will have their full menu of delicious food available all day as well.

Black Shirt Brewing (Denver) - The brewery is planning an incredible pairing event set for this Valentine's Day, Friday, February 14th from 2pm to 9pm in their tap room. They have teamed up with local confectioner "Lucille's" and local cheese monger "A Cheese Peddler" to create an incredible board of artisan, hand-selected cheeses, bread, and espresso 'mallows that they'll offer along with a tasting flight of 8 delicious Red Ales for $30/couple. Lucky Pie Lodo (Denver) - This Friday for Valentine's Day, Lucky Pie will be offering up some Epic beers just for the occasion including a special firkin of Epic Brewing's Sour Apple Saison with rose buds, Epic's Big Bad Baptist Imperial Stout, and Epic's Brainless on Raspberries Belgian-style ale. Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (Denver) - Their Keep the Glass Tuesday's Artist Glass #4 ran out in just two weeks. Fastest ever. Starting tomorrow, February 11th, glass #5 will be available. This batch feature taller, more slender glassware. [2810 Larimer St., Denver, CO]

Falling Rock Tap House (Denver) - Here is the "tentative" schedule for their Pliny the Younger tapping for this year. The truck will be picking up the beer in California on February 14th. Is is expected to arrive in Denver sometime on February 18th. Once they inventory & invoice the beer they will deliver it to the bar and put it on tap Wednesday February 19th at 6:00pm. That morning at 11am, doors will open and they will start issuing tickets that allow you to purchase a glass of Pliny the Younger. There will be 2 colors of tickets. One color will guarantee you a glass. The other color means maybe you get a glass. Remember, this is a tentative date and time. More updates as the day draws nearer. [1919 Blake Street, Denver, CO]

CAUTION: Brewing Co (Denver + Lakewood) - For all of you who wish Valentine's Day would never happen, here is an event for you. Come to CAUTION's "Love To Hate Valentine's Day Party" on February 14th at both locations. Caution: East 4-8pm [12445 E 39th Ave, Unit 314, Denver] and Caution: West 4-10pm [1057 S. Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO]. Just say "NO" to Hallmark holidays. Make personalized "I Love to Hate You" cards. Play a card game at the bar for horrible people (Cards against humanity perhaps?). Take your anger out on a pink heart pinata. Drink your V-Day cares away with $1 off pints!

River North Brewery (Denver) - For this week's pre-anniversary Wayward Wednesday, River North will tap a keg of their latest creation, Scotch Barrel J. Marie. Boulder County

Crystal Springs Brewing Co (Louisville) - Their business hours have changed recently. They are now open Monday 4-8pm, Tuesday - Friday 4-9pm, Saturday 1-8pm and Sundays 12-6pm. They will be doing growler fills most days from 3-4pm, and all day Saturday and Sunday. On Thursday, February 13, join in for a "Not Valentines Day" party sponsored by CTC Singles. The event will be CTC Singles first ever speed dating event from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. If you're single and looking to meet someone in a cool environment, this is it! Then on Friday, February 14 - Valentine's Day: GottaRubIt Food Truck will be there with some special Valentine's Day goodies and Crystal Springs will have 7 wonderful stouts tap along with chocolate. Boulder Strong Ale Fest (Boulder) - For those of you in Denver who need a ride to the Boulder Strong Ale Fest on March 1st take note - head over to the Rackhouse Pub in Denver and catch a bus ride to the festival. You can stay safe and ride the bus to/from the fest. Bus ticket is $20. They pick up at 10am at Rackhouse Pub and returns from Avery Brewing at 5pm.

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - This Valentine's Day, stop in to Boulder Beer Company for some special holiday drinks. First up is a Raspberry Chocolate Cake Beer Cocktail. Bootstrap Brewing Co (Niwot) - There's going to be a tapping party this Friday, Feb. 14th. It marks the return of their Cherry Ginger Gold. Tonight, there's open mic night, trivia on Tuesday, Euchre on Wednesday and a beer/dessert pairing on Thursday. [6778 N. 79th St., Niwot, CO]

Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Quick heads up... Their taproom will be closed on Tuesday, February 11th so they can all attend their annual co-worker meeting. You can still grab some Odell beer at many locations around Fort Collins that day. [800 E. Lincoln Ave., Ft. Collins, CO]

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - The local Loveland Snow Sculpture festival has begun. The city has closed off West 4th Street to cars in front of the brewery, but there is plenty of parking in the lot on the south side of Aleworks on Garfield, 3rd Street and Railroad Ave. Find a spot and come in for some beer and enjoy the snow sculptures outside. High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - For this Wednesday's firkin, High Hops added some black teas, roasted mate & motueka hops and came up with Nick Noel-Tea #3 aka Tropic Thunder, a tea beer. Also, don't forget their big 2nd annual Firkin Fest will take place at the brewery all day from 12pm to 9pm. There will be 16 different firkin beers being tapped that day including a Diamana Herb Beer which reportedly was brewed with a form of aphrodisiac. Wiley Roots Brewing Co (Greeley) - This week will conclude their Celebration of Dark Beer with a final release of a special barrel-aged beer - "Rose of My Heart". They took their popular Chocolate Porter and aged it for months in a Merlot wine barrel. There's just a limited amount, but they also packaged some of this beer and put it into 22oz bomber bottles for you to purchase and take home (limit 2 bottles per customer). City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Looking for Valentine's Day gift options? Check out Robin Chocolates in Longmont! City Star Brewing will be featuring one of their chocolates that are "almost too beautiful to eat" at Friday's taproom Chocolate & Beer Pairing. Which chocolate you might ask? Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - To show their undying love and devotion to their wonderful customers, Big Beaver will be handing out Valentine's cards to the first 20 people Monday- Thursday of this week (80 total). Southern Front Range

BierWerks Brewery's Winter Beer Fest (Woodland Park) - Just a reminder that the 4th Annual Winter Beer Fest is fast approaching. Be sure to get your half price tickets now! This year, the fest will take place on Saturday, February 15th, from 2pm-6pm. Just like last year, the fest will take place at the Ute Pass Cultural Center, located directly across the street from BierWerks Brewery, in downtown Woodland Park. Over 11 breweries will be represented at this fest. If you buy tickets at the door it will be $35, but if you buy tickets by February 14th online the cost will be just $17.50. [210 E. Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) - in 2013, Great Storm went through a major expansion. They tripled their total space, added 300 square feet of cold storage, hired additional help, and secured an additional license that allowed them to brew their beers in larger batches at an off-site facility. They also altered their hours and are now open Tuesday through Thursday 1pm – 9pm, and their Friday and Saturday hours remain the same, 11am – 10pm. Tuesday night are bingo nights now, starting at 7pm, with free admission and boards, and fun prizes including GSB swag, bar tabs, and more. This Tuesday, Feb. 11th, they’ll be starting an hour early at 6pm and follow up bingo with live music by John Will. Kannah Creek Brewing Co (Grand Junction) - Why wait until Valentine's Day. They're tapping their Pomegranate Blonde firkin today at 5:00pm in their taproom. it's their way of sharing the love early. [1960 N. 12th St., Grand Junction, CO]

Horsefly Brewery (Montrose) - There's a new beer on tap today at Horsefly Brewery. It's called San Francisco S.T.E.A.M. It's a biscuity, malty and clean ale - sure to please both light and dark beer drinkers. [846 E. Main St., Montrose, CO]

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - This Thursday is their Beer & Cupcake Pairing at Crazy Mountain Brewery! $10 gets you 3 cupcakes and 3 beers.
