Bootstrap Brewing (Niwot) and Sanitas Brewing Co (Boulder) enter into an alternating proprietor agreement. [PRESS RELEASE] Niwot, Colorado’s only operating brewery, Bootstrap Brewing, has been facing capacity issues since opening in the summer of 2012. Bootstrap, known for such beers as Insane Rush IPA, Backfire Chili and Worthog Stout, has found great success in their downtown Niwot taproom as well as on draft and store shelves around Boulder County. To keep up with demand, Steve and Leslie Kaczeus have pursued an agreement with Sanitas Brewing Company in nearby Boulder. This alternating proprietorship will help Bootstrap brew more beer for thirsty consumers. “Our beers, especially our flagship Insane Rush IPA, have been well received by craft beer enthusiasts causing us to brew to capacity on our small brewhouse,” explains Bootstrap Brewing owner and brewer Steve Kaczeus. “This agreement essentially allows us to rent time on Sanitas Brewing Company’s equipment, which is far larger than ours, and will allow us the ability to both brew and package a lot more Bootstrap beer than we currently are at our Niwot facility.” The agreement further allows Bootstrap Brewing to package their beer in cans for the first time. “We currently have a wild goose canning line that we use to package our year-round Black IPA and Saison,” says Sanitas Brewing Company cofounder and Chief of Brewing Operations Chris Coyne, “the agreement with Bootstrap gives them access to our canning line and the ability to begin offering their beer in 12 oz. cans.” Kaczeus says cans of Bootstrap beer are still a few months away, but initial plans are to offer Insane Rush IPA in six packs of 12 ounce cans. The agreement between Bootstrap Brewing and Sanitas Brewing Company is effective immediately. This agreement will not directly affect any of Sanitas Brewing Company’s brewing operations.
