Colorado Beer NewsToday is the start of the Craft Brewers Conference in Denver, Colorado. This week also marks the 2014 World Beer Cup which is also being judged in Denver this year. Thousands of brewers and industry reps are arriving in Colorado to gather, discuss and learn all about this highly popular business segment. The festivities begin tonight with an opening celebration at Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Then from Wednesday through Friday at the Colorado Convention Center, there will be seminars, classes, a big Brewing Expo and more. After hours, the local breweries and pubs will be busy with special events and tappings. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, April 8th, 2014. Metro Denver

CODA Brewing Co (Aurora) - Final preparations are nearly complete on this soon to open brewery in Aurora on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus area. Luke Smith & Scott Procop (owners) are planning to open the week of April 28th to the public. Currently, they have several beers being prepped for the opening. They include an Oatmeal Stout, a Red Ale, an IPA and a Mango Kolsch. They are also planning some special small batches as well. The brewery houses a 10 bbl brewhouse. CRAFT (Movie) - CRAFT, the beer documentary from filmmaker and Cicerone Craig Noble, premiered last Friday in Denver at the Sie FilmCenter. With many in the brewing community busy in the days leading up to the Craft Brewers Conference, showings of the film have been extended through Thursday, April 10th. The latest film from Craig Noble follows him on a coast to coast journey that includes an apprenticeship at a farm brewery, beer schooling in Vermont that lead to Cicerone certification and the development of his farmhouse ale recipe. Inspired by the double digit growth of the craft brewing industry, Noble takes a look at how breweries are taking on the task of maintaining the quality, creativity and integrity expected by thirsty beer connoisseurs. Freshcraft (Denver) - Today marks some special tappings from Duvel & Boulevard Brewing today at Freshcraft. At 11am they'll tap Tank 7 and 80 Acre from Boulevard as well as Ommegang Hop House and Duvel Single. Then at 5pm stop in for Boulevard Foeder Projekt #1, Houblon Chouffe and Ommegang Rie & Blood. Park & Co (Denver) - Here's another special CBC event. This time it's Dogfish Head Brewery is in town and will be tapping a lot of their beers including 60, 61, 90 and 120 Minute IPAs, Hellhound on my Ale, and Burton Baton. Oskar Blues (Longmont) - After years of experimenting with putting fresh draft beers on nitro, Oskar Blues Brewery decided to take the next step and insert the robustly complex OLD CHUB into a nitro’d CAN, thus generating an uber-silky smooth oral experience for drinkers of this rich Scotch Ale. OLD CHUB NITRO will be released in the Denver market for the upcoming Craft Brewers Conference on April 8-11. National distribution will be determined following the Craft Brewers Conference. Oskar Blues Brewery expanded their nitro program in 2009 under the leadership of brewer Juice Drapeau.
