Colorado Beer NewsToday is No Socks Day. Give your feet a break today. Forget the socks today and let your toes go commando today. Your feet have been covered up all winter and spring and today is the day to let those feet air out and be free. Best wash them off if you do (please). You might just want to put on some sandals or toed walkers though if you want to wander into a business for a bite or a drink however. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, May 8th, 2014. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Grist Brewing Co (Highlands Ranch) - There's a new beer going on tap today over in Highlands Ranch. It's called "Stay at Home Blonde", a sweet, creamy blonde ale that's very approachable. Give one a try and pair with with food from the Chibby Wibbitz food truck! The beer taps at 4pm and the food truck is on site from 5pm to 9pm. Coda Brewing Co (Aurora) - Have you been to Coda Brewing yet? If not, you might want to stop in this Friday and try their new beer release: Champango. It's a Champagne Mango Kolsch. It taps when they open at 12 noon May 9th. Stop in and check out this new brewery! [2101 N Ursula Unit 10, Aurora, CO]

City Star Brewing - Berthoud CO

Denver Pearl Brewing Co (Denver) - Yesterday, the soon to open brewery passed their final inspection and has set their opening day for June 7, 2014. This brewery will be located at 1875 S. Pearl Street in Denver, CO. Stay tuned for opening details and beer lists. They plan to have several soft openings before their opening day.

4 Noses Brewing Company (Broomfield) - Today is the official Opening Day for the new brewery - 4 Noses Brewing Company. The doors will open at 4:00pm and they plan to have 8 beers on tap for all to enjoy. This is considered a soft opening according to their Facebook page, so an official Grand Opening celebration will come later. 4 Noses plans to put their own unique interpretation of classic styles on tap using ingredients from around the world. Some of their beers include: Bareback Blonde, Proboscis Pale Ale, Make My Day session IPA, and an Imperial Stout. 4 other beers will be tapped as well. [8855 W 116th Circle, Broomfield, CO]

CAUTION: Brewing Co (Lakewood & Denver) - For Throwback Thursday, they are Re-Introducing one of their first exBeerimental beers - Cranberry Ammo! It's a cranberry dunkelweiss and is perfect for chilly spring days in Colorado. Try that and stay for Open Mic night at their West location from 7pm to 10pm where you'll get happy hour prices during that event. Lowry Beer Garden (Denver) - Stop over this Saturday, May 10th from 11am to 3pm for their American Craft BrewFest. Sample some rare craft beers from breweries such as: Epic Brewing, Brewery Rickoli, City Star Brewing, Avery Brewing, Odell Brewing and Fate Brewing. The $20 ticket includes a taster mug with unlimited samples from the 6 breweries, each of which will showcase two to three different brews. Tickets available at the door day of event. Mountain Toad Brewing (Golden) - Mark your calendars for their "One Year of Toad Cheers" anniversary party on Saturday May 24th! They will have 12 beers on tap, live music, and commemorative glassware for the first 250 beer enthusiasts! More information to come soon. [900 Washington Ave, Golden, CO]

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - New Beer Release! Coming up on Sunday, May 11th for Mother's Day, Big Choice along with Odd13 Brewing of Lafayette will be releasing their collaboration beer called "Chainsaw Prince of Karate", a sour ale that's pink in color. Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - It's back! Stop in and try their "Between the Staves", a sour ale aged in Cognac barrels. Small glass $5 and full glass $10 for this treat. Tapped and available now. [3550 Brighton Blvd, Denver, CO]

Boulder County

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - This Saturday, May 10th, stop in at the Boulder Beer tap room for their Kinda Bluegrass Festival. They will be featuring 4 different varieties of their Kinda Blue blueberry wheat ale including: Nitro Blue, Black & Blue, Unfiltered Blue, and regular Kinda Blue. They'll have live music playing from 12pm to 9pm from 3 different groups: Barrel House, Moonshiner, & Caribou Mountain Collective. Taster paddles of all their Kinda Blues will be available for $4.50. Upslope Brewing Co (Boulder) - The brewers from Upslope brought the Barrels and Bottles crew up from Golden to collaborate on a Sour Mashed Extra Pale Ale, they're calling "Stanky Leg". They started with a mash of wheat and premium pils and inoculated it with Lactobacillus Delbrueckii. Hopped with Cascade, Centennial, Belma(c) and an experimental hop blend from Australia- Orbit(c). With an assertive acidic character, and floral and blueberry aromas, this beer will challenge the palate of even the most experienced craft beer connoisseurs. Available in both tap rooms next week. Fate Brewing Co (Boulder) - Now available on tap: Black India Pale Lager. This brew was made with Chinook, Crystal and El Dorado hops and weighs in around 6.1% ABV. And yes, this pale lager is very dark in color! [1600 38th St, Boulder, CO]

Northern Colorado

Wiley Roots Brewing Co (Greeley) - Patrons aren't seeing double, Wiley Roots actually doubled the amount of beer taps they have on their wall this week in preparation for some additional beer releases happening tonight. Starting at 3pm, they will release their new Haystack Kolsch. Then later tonight at 6:30pm, they will release a small batch of their Double Black IPA. Wing Shack will be on hand also tonight serving up some delicious wings. Then stick around for some live music from The Burroughs from 8pm to 10pm. Black Bottle Panty Dropper AleBlack Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - More beers are headed to bottles in the near future. Black Bottle Brewery unveiled 5 new bottle labels including some rare limited edition brews. Beers headed to bottles include: American Graffiti American Sour, Pantie Dropper Ale Abbey Tripel, There Went the Neighborhood Sour Rye Saison, The Last Unicorn Tart Cherry Raspberry Lambic, and There Goes the Neighborhood Belgian Rye Saison. Pateros Creek Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - In honor of Mother's Day this weekend, they've created a special ‪‎Outlaw Tap beer‬ for the Moms: Rosy Red, their Irish Red Ale made with roses. It's slightly sweet with a flowery refreshing finish. It's the perfect pint to raise for Mom! [242 N College Ave, Unit B, Ft. Collins, CO]

Horse & Dragon Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Something new is on tap today. They now have a Pale Ale available for you to try. Stop in and get a taste of this or any of the 7 other beers on tap now. Southern Front Range

Shamrock Brewing Co (Pueblo) - Tonight! For Colorado Craft Beer Week Shamrock Brewing is tapping the last of their Chocolate Porter which went on to be brewed in collaboration with Oskar Blues and was brewed and canned in Lyons. It was very well received and the limited distribution in Longmont sold out immediately. The remaining batch taps at 7pm tonight (May 8th). Come early as supplies are limited. Smiling Toad Brewery (Colorado Springs) - There are two new beers on tap today! Sample their latest edition of IPA Freely, a double dry hopped IPA with Mosiac hops. This beer has a nose of peaches and blueberries. 7.5% ABV, truly an Imperial IPA. Also new for the birthday girl - Mary's Cheery Cherry. A wheat beer with a pound of cherries added in the secondary. Mountains and West

Broken Compass Brewing (Breckenridge) - For the first time, all four of their fermenters are full and busy producing their first beers. Beers include: India Brown, Chili Pepper Pale, Belgian Wit, and an IPA. In about a few weeks they will be ready and the brewery will be open for business. Other beers expected are a Helles, a Coconut Porter and a Stout. Get ready for some fresh new beer Breckenridge! [68 Continental Ct, Unit B12, Breckenridge, CO]

Carver Brewing Co (Durango) - There's a new brew tapped today - Cerveza Real, a Mexican-style lager - served with a wedge of lime. Try one and also check out their new summer menus for breakfast, lunch & dinner. [1022 Main Ave, Durango, CO]
