Colorado Beer NewsToday is the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. Back on this day in 1944, the Invasion of Normandy (aka D-Day) took place on the beaches of Normandy, France. This battle would help turn the tide for the Allied Forces in World war II in the fight again Nazi Germany. Today we honor the memory of all those who fought and died for our country. Be sure to raise a toast to all those vets who served. You can also celebrate National Donut Day too while you're at it. Beer By Design 1st AnniversaryBeer By Design Brewery (Northglenn) - [PRESS RELEASE] Beer by Design Brewery is excited to announce that they are celebrating their first anniversary! Brewmaster Vance Sabbe and business partner Rich Aggen opened their doors on June 1, 2013 creating beers designed to be enjoyed. They are marking the occasion with several events occurring between June 9th- June 30th. The Source (Denver) - Visit the Common Area Bar on June 13th (5pm-10pm) and 14th 12pm-10pm). PlatteForum, a local non-profit, will be hosting a pop-up event located in the common area bar in collaboration with Verboten Brewing. Verboten Brewing (Loveland, CO) will be serving their award-winning beer to benefit Platte Forum. Come and try their delicious, unique beers for a good cause!

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - Boulder Beer is planning to celebrate their 35th Anniversary with a party on Saturday, June 14th from noon to 9pm at The Pub at Boulder Beer. This event is open to the public and will feature a rare beer tasting garden and live music all day. Don't miss your chance to try their special, limited release brews such as Alakazam! Colorado Breweries (Book Signing) - Dan Rabin, author of the recently-released Colorado Breweries guidebook, has two upcoming book signing events. On Saturday, he’ll be signing books at New Belgium Brewing in Fort Collins beginning at 2:00pm.

Wiley Roots Brewing Co (Greeley) - The flood waters have receded out of the brewery, but 3rd Street still remains closed off to traffic due the water as of last night. The slow process of cleaning up after the flood is beginning. Brewer & co-owner Kyle Carbaugh said that they were able to save the two big batches of beer that were fermenting at the time of the flood. Crabtree Brewing Co (Greeley) - Owner/brewer Jeff Crabtree says "Our hearts and pints go out to Wiley Roots Brewing Company due to the unfortunate flooding of the Poudre River into their brewery and tap room here in Greeley. Crabtree Brewing Company will be donating 30% of all profits made Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (June 6th-8th) to support our fellow brewing colleague. Big Thompson Brewery (Loveland) - Progress is being made towards opening this new brewery in Loveland. They recently received both their Federal and State Brewer's Licenses and are waiting for their building plans to get approved. They are hoping to start construction soon! Rocky Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) - Tomorrow, Saturday June 7th, RMB will be celebrating their 6 year anniversary. They're busting out a large selection of beers for the event and they will be rotating throughout the day. They will also be raffling off some prizes including a card worth 10 free growler fills and one of their HydroFlasks. They're open all day, and the festivities will begin around 4:00pm. Pikes Peak Brewing Co (Monument) - Come celebrate their Third Anniversary June 20-22 - all weekend long! On JUne 20th at 7pm they'll host live music from Mente Clara. On Saturday, June 21st they'll host the Cheyenne Mountain traveling Zoo Mobile at the brewery from 1pm to 4pm. At 4pm they'll release their "Three Year Beer Vienna Lager". And from 5-7pm they'll offer up free hot dogs and chips! Then on Sunday, June 22nd they'll host a show from the Flying Wranglers ($5 fee) in their Beer Garden at 5pm. Butcherknife Brewing CoButcherknife Brewing Co (Steamboat Springs) - [PRESS RELEASE] Butcherknife Brewing Company has delivered its first beer to accounts today, culminating a journey to market spanning nearly 5 years. The company began in 2009 when founder Mark Fitzgerald registered the business with the State of Colorado. Shortly thereafter, co-founder Nate Johansing joined the company and plans began to firm up. "We're thrilled to finally deliver on the promise we made to Steamboat so long ago," Fitzgerald noted. The Butcherknife owners have been serving their homebrewed pilot batches to local fans since 2011, with a substantial volume donated to local charities and private fundraisers. “Strong local roots and longtime friendships in town have driven everything we've done to date,” Johansing said. Butcherknife plans to distribute over 1000 barrels of beer in its first 12 months of operation, with plenty of room to grow and a strong plan for growth going forward. Though draft-only for now, the company intends to begin packaging its most popular varieties in cans before those first 12 months are up. Butcherknife Blonde X is available immediately at several Steamboat Locations, including Carl’s Tavern and the Tap House Sports Grill. The aromatic and sessionable American Blonde Ale measures in at 4.2% ABV and is available in limited quantities directly from the brewery for wholesale on-premise accounts only.
