Colorado Beer NewsToday is Color TV Day. It was on this day back in 1951 that the first regular commercial color TV transmission was broadcast by CBS. Back in 1951, hardly anyone owned a color TV, and seeing one displayed in a store window drew crowds. And ever since then the world has become even more enamored by the boob tube. These days, color displays are everywhere and many fit in your pocket. Now if only craft beer could fit in your pocket. It's also Colorado Bike to Work Day - ride to your favorite brewery! Erie Brewfest (Erie) - Come to the 2nd annual Erie Brewfest in Historic Downtown Erie (Briggs St) on Saturday, July 5th, 2014 from 12 noon to 4:00pm. There will be 23 local breweries in attendance including many of your favorites. Very Nice Brewing Co (Nederland) - For you Nederlanders and those in the area, drop by for a beer and join in for Euchre Night from 6-8pm. Fate Brewing Co (Boulder) - Made your 4th of July plans yet? Hangout at Fate Brewing as they have one of the besting viewing spots in Boulder for that evening's fireworks. The Old Mine Cidery & Brewpub (Erie) - Starting this Friday, they will start their new Summer business hours. City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Coming to "Small Town USA" Berthoud, Colorado this Fourth of July - "ALL American IPA"! This American IPA is brewed with a handful of elusive USA hops: Columbus, Simcoe, Amarillo, Mosaic and dry hopped with Citra hops. City Star taproom hours Friday 7/4: noon-7pm. New Belgium Brewing (Ft. Collins) - [PRESS RELEASE] New Belgium Brewing’s annual Clips Beer & Film Tour is hitting the road again, making its seventh stop of the 2014 tour in Boulder, Colo., on July 11. The event will take place on Twenty Ninth Street Mall from 8:00-11:00 p.m., with the films starting once dark descends. This beer-toting, film-traveling, nonprofit-benefiting show is going coast-to-coast hitting 21 cities in its fifth year. The best part is that 100 percent of the proceeds from beer sales benefit local nonprofits working to improve communities nationwide. Clips offers a venue where guests can try New Belgium’s most esoteric beer offerings, while watching short films created by New Belgium fans. Many of New Belgium’s Lips of Faith beers can be hard to come by and Clips offers the best way to try them. Up to 17 varieties from Lips of Faith to brewery classics will be on tap.

New Belgium beers will be available in 3-ounce samples or a 12-ounce pour. Served up by local beneficiary volunteers, there's plenty of fun to be had alongside a host of traveling tricks and contests. Food from Verde Food Truck, Top of the Grill West, Heirloom Food Truck and Cheeze Louise will also be available. New Belgium selects approximately 20 short films for the tour each season. All selected filmmakers for the 2014 tour will receive a trophy-worthy beer in a custom screen-printed bottle, made exclusively for the winning submissions. This year, the chosen films include a banana with an attitude, ultra marathoners running with stubborn animals, neon spandex, and much, much more! Phantom Canyon Brewing Co (Colorado Springs) - Introducing "Gold Star for Robot Boy", an English-style Strong Ale. This may be their final beer in their Revival Series of beers based upon historical beers that historian Ron Pattinson posts on his web: "Shut up About Barclay Perkins". They've done 16 beers in the series now. This brew is based on the original recipe for Thomas Hardy's that was brewed in 1967. Bonfire Brewing (Eagle) - The brewery has just installed their new 4-head bottle filler that they call "Hugh".
