Colorado Beer News 070714

Colorado Beer NewsToday is Tell The Truth Day. Admit it, we've all gotten used to telling fibs, little white lies and not quite giving the full story on a regular basis. Today is a day where you are urged to tell the truth just for one day. See if you can go a whole day and simply tell the truth. May be harder than you think. Who knows, by telling the truth, you might end up relieving a bit of stress. Sure, it may backfire on you, but you probably had it coming. Face the truth, and try to get past those lies. A beer might just help with that later on. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, July 7th, 2014. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Oskar Blues Brewing (Longmont) - Oskar Blues was selected by Sierra Nevada Brewing Company's Beer Camp event to be one of the 12 breweries features in the upcoming "Beer Camp Across America" collaborative 12-pack. CANfusion is a dry-hop rye bock with a complex malt body that launches a peppery blast from the rye, balanced by a fruity hop aroma. As the style suggests, it was dry-hopped for an added aroma punch from the unique citrusy and spice-like Australian Ella hop varietal. The Beer Camp Across America variety pack will be released today - Monday, July 7. The remaining 11 partners include Allagash, the Asheville Brewers Alliance, Ballast Point, Bell’s, Cigar City, Firestone Walker, New Glarus, Ninkasi, Russian River, 3 Floyds and Victory. Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - [PRESS RELEASE] On July 11, 12, & 13, Odell Brewing will celebrate the release of its latest Cellar Series beer, Fifty Niner. Named for the Colorado gold rush of 1859, Fifty Niner is lustrous golden ale conditioned with Brettanomyces, a yeast as wild as the new frontier. Odell Brewing selected oak staves with a light to medium toast, giving the beer hints of vanilla, almond, graham cracker and wafer. The initial batch was aged for more than a month and then blended with a fresh batch just before packaging. The beer was then keg and bottle conditioned with 100% Brettanomyces, specifically a wild strain that Odell Brewing grew up in their lab. The Brett adds a subtle fruity and slightly phenolic characteristic to the beer, dramatically changing the overall profile by adding balance to the woody aromas. It is crisp, refreshing, creamy, yet still deceivingly robust. Fifty Niner was aged in-house for 8 weeks and is ready to consume upon release, but it will also continue to evolve over time and is suggested to be enjoyed within one year. Odell Brewing will celebrate the release of Fifty Niner in the Tap Room on July 11, 12, and 13 (note the brewery will close early at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 12). Guests can enjoy samples of the beer, local food truck fare, and live music by Purr Gato on Sunday from 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Fifty Niner will be available in 750 ml, cork & cage finished bottles throughout the brewery's 11 state distribution footprint.
