They have now expanded distribution into Arizona by partnering with Young’s Market Company of Arizona. The first beers shipped on August 2 and were available in select locations starting the week of August 11. Kannah Creek’s three mainstay beers will be distributed in Arizona including the Lands End Amber, Standing Wave Pale Ale, and Broken Oar IPA. The breweries rotating line of seasonal offerings will also be available including the current offering Island Mesa Blonde Ale. These beers are available in 6-packs at liquor stores and in kegs for on draft at bars and restaurants. “At Young’s Market of Arizona craft beer is a way of life,” states Beer Portfolio Manager, Wayne Wriston. “Here at Young’s the right fit is an important factor and not everyone we consider makes the grade. We have a rich history with Colorado breweries and are looking forward to more progress here in our home market of Arizona with Kannah Creek.” Kannah Creek Brewing Company has been brewing beer on a 7 barrel system at their brewpub based in Grand Junction since 2005 but with the addition of a new 30 barrel brew house and production facility Kannah Creek started distributing their beers throughout Colorado in August 2013. Arizona is now the second state to carry Kannah Creek beer. “We chose to distribute to Arizona because it is a similar sized market as Colorado,” states Co-Owner and Head Brewer, Jim Jeffryes. “Plus we are a neighboring state which puts them (Young’s Market) close to us for easy support.” [1960 N 12th St, Grand Junction, CO]

Falling Rock Fresh Hop Festival (Denver) - [PRESS RELEASE] Earlier this year the Colorado Brewers Guild and Imbibe Events announced the Lovibond Series. Each beer festival in this series focuses on a specific aspect of the brewing industry. The final installment of the series, the Falling Rock Fresh Hop Festival, will take place on Saturday, September 27 at Falling Rock Tap House (1919 Blake Street, Denver CO 80202) from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. “Hop harvesting is an annual labor of love for many within the craft beer industry,” said Steve Kurowski of the Colorado Brewers Guild. “Fresh hop beers are exciting and unique. Fresh hop beers tend to be pale ales and IPAs, but there can also be a lot of variation with the fresh hop style.” Fresh hopped beers are defined as beers made with hops within 24 hours of being harvested. Hops play a vital role in the brewing process. Each hop flower contains lupulin, a sticky substance that is secreted when boiled. Lupulin contains essential oils, bitter acids and resins that contribute to bitterness, flavor and aroma of the beer. Hops also help preserve beer’s freshness. Falling Rock Tap House has hosted the Fresh Hop Festival for nine years now. This year they have decided to partner up with the Colorado Brewers Guild and Imbibe Events to expand the festival. This event will showcase beers from Colorado and the West Coast. Brewers will be producing fresh hop IPAs, pale ales, brown ales, Belgians and stouts. “We felt a festival surrounding this passion was the best way to kick off the week of the Great American Beer Festival,” said Casey Berry of Imbibe Events. “It will be a very hoppy afternoon!” Tickets are $40 when purchased in advance at Ticket includes unlimited beer tastings and snacks while they last.
