Colorado Beer NewsToday is both International Beer Day and Colorado's 138th Birthday. It's no coincidence that one of the best beer states in the nation has it's birthday on the same day as International Beer Day this year. We were meant to celebrate the 38th state in the nation with beer! Go out and celebrate Colorado's statehood by visiting your favorite brewery taproom, local tavern, bar or restaurant and have a Colorado craft beer and toast to Colorado's future and to beer itself! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, August 1st, 2014. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Hops & Pie (Denver) - Start the weekend off right with these fresh tappings: Cafe Racer 15 from Bear Republic, Beaver Pond Blond from Telluride Brewing, and Hoptimum from Sierra Nevada. Pair that with the Slice of the day featuring sausage, tomato and fresh mozzarella. [3920 Tennyson St, Denver, CO]

Elk Mountain Brewing (Parker) - Come help celebrate not only Colorado's birthday, but also Elk Mountain Brewing's 4th anniversary starting today. They opened at noon and tapped their "Red Head RIPA". Then at 5pm they'll tap a "Whiskey Barrel Brown". Sign up for their Mug Club too. Live music from brickyard Falls at 5pm. Food available outside from Chuey Fu's starting at 2pm. Play some Guitar Hero at 9pm. Tomorrow there will be more music, more games, more beer tappings, more special events, more giveaways and don't forget about the pig roast! 4 Noses Brewing Co (Broomfield) - Tonight they're tapping a special Mystery firkin. Can you guess what they added to this beer? Also, the Comfort Food Truck is in the house and there'll be live music from Gratefully Acoustic too. Follow your nose! [8855 W 116 Cir, Broomfield, CO]

Copper Kettle Brewing Co (Denver) - Today, CKBC is releasing "Oh for Hef'ns Sake", a German-style Hefeweizen. This one has been one of the most requested brews to return to the tap wall and now they have. Coming up next Friday, August 8th will be a bomber bottle and tap release of "Sobremesa", a lime agave summer pale ale aged in Tequila barrels. Try it out and then take some home! August is also "Childhood Cereal Cask Month". Each Wednesday, they will tap a special cask of beer that has a unique cereal infusion. Aug. 6th - Honey Nut Cheerios English pale Ale, Aug 13th - Cinnamon Toast Crunch American Wheat Ale, Aug. 20th - Count Chocula Stout, and Aug. 27th - Apple Jacks American Blonde. AC Golden Brewing Co (Golden) - AC Golden Brewing Company has just released Peche, a sour beer from its Hidden Barrel Collection, in the Greater Denver area. This bottle conditioned beer is made with Palisade peaches and has an enormous fresh peach smell combined with citrus fruit and earthiness. First introduced in 2011, Peche has a hazy orange/yellow hue, an acidic, slightly sour fresh peach flavor and finishes dry, quenching and tart. Available in 750ml bottles, Peche retails for around $25 per bottle. According to Jeff Nickel, head brewer for AC Golden, Peche works well with sweet, fruity desserts such as caramel apple pie. It also pairs with fatty meats, such as short ribs and tuna filets. Look for it around Denver. [1301 Ford St, Golden, CO]

Bull & Bush Brewery (Denver) - Since 1971, The Bull & Bush has been providing libations and shenanigans in central Denver. On August 8, 2014 they celebrate their 43rd anniversary and they'd love you to join them. The SAMPLES will be playing live. Order your tickets online and they'll mail them to you free of charge. Stapleton Tap House (Denver) - All this weekend through August 3rd, Stapleton Tap House is celebrating their 1st Anniversary. Living The Dream Brewing Co (Littleton) - New on tap today is their Colorado Wildflower Honey Saison. Plus, B & B Smokehouse will be there tonight serving up delicious BBQ. Pair them! [12305 Dumont Way, Unit A, Littleton, CO]

3 Freaks Brewery (Highlands Ranch) - They've tapped two new brews today, but don't know what to call them yet. Stop in and give their IPA and Blonde ale a try and suggest a name for them. Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - Today's firkin is a "Peppered Old Ale". It tapped at 3pm, but if you hurry over there you might just get some. There full August line-up of Friday Firkins is listed on their web site @ [15120 E Hampden Ave, Aurora, CO]

Boulder County

The Industrial Revolution Brewing Co (Erie) - Today their Orange Cream Ale is back on tap. Pair that with food from The Bumper Crop food truck that's on site tonight. [285 Cheesman St, Erie, CO]

Bootstrap Brewing Co (Niwot) - The heat is back on! Enjoy their "Backfire Chili" ale, it's now back on tap. [6778 N 79th St, Niwot, CO]

Left Hand Brewing Co (Longmont) - Don't forget to put on your best German outfit and come on down for today's Oktoberfest Marzen Lager tapping at 5pm. Get your chance to win a free case of beer for best costume! [1265 Boston Ave, Longmont, CO]

Northern Colorado

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Today they are pouring their Stuft Burger collaboration beer in the taproom! Brew #2 is a classic English style ESB and is malty, caramel-y, has a nice hop balance. Come try a pint or stop by any Stuft Burger in Fort Collins, Windsor or Greeley. Also, come by around 5pm today and get a little Bottlecap BBQ LLC action! BBQ pairs well with... beer. Period. Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - In honor of Colorado Day, they've tapped a beer called "Actually From Here", an all Colorado ingredient IPA. Freedom's Edge Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Just tapped today - Blood Orange Imperial IPA. Start your weekend off with a citrus hop hit! [224 Linden St, Ft. Collins, CO]

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Their "All American IPA" is back on tap today. It's dosed up with Columbus, Simcoe, Amarillo, Mosaic and Citra hops. Drink one while listening to live music tonight. [321 Mountain Ave, Berthoud, CO]

Southern Front Range

Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) - New business hours for August! They are now opening at Noon on Fridays and Saturdays for your beer drinking pleasure because after all at noon it's still Beer:o'clock somewhere. [204 Mount View Ln Suite 3, Colo. Springs, CO]

Pikes Peak Brewing Co (Monument) - The seasonal tap has their "Rocky Wheat" Hefeweizen currently. Plus they have their great line-up of standbys including: Little London English Mild, Summit House Stout, Elephant Rock IPA, Devil's Head Red Ale, Ascent Pale Ale, and Gold Rush. ALso, save the dates - September 13-20 will be Monument Beer Week. Look for special events and tappings during that week. Also, coming in late August will be their annual Hop Picking Party. Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - This month is loaded with events at the pub kicking off with their First Saturday Firkin tomorrow, a Double IPA Double BLT tapping on 8/21, and wrapping up it all up on 8/30 with a huge anniversary event with dozens of specialty cellared/aged vintage kegs to tap up! During the entire month of August, all 750ml bottles are $4 off as thanks for helping them get to 6 years of business. Stop in TODAY for the Passion Swing 375ml bottle release at 5pm. Aspen Brewing Co (Aspen) - It's that time of year again, cougars are out and the hunt is on. Appropriate timing for the second release of their french oak, red wine barrel-aged Cougar brew, The Sour Aged Blonde. Get 'er while you can! [304 E Hopkins Ave, Aspen, CO]

Roaring Fork Beer Co (Carbondale) - Shake off that rough work week with their 8% Imperial IPA finely brewed with 2.5 pounds of citra and zythoa hops per barrel.
