Today is #IPAday, an annual celebration by craft beer enthusiasts of one of the most popular beer styles - the India Pale Ale. This is one of the most bitter styles of beer that has taken America by storm, yet this style has been around ever since the old British Empire was governing India. When it's time to enjoy a craft beer today, choose an IPA and embrace the aromas and bitterness of the Humulus Lupulus, aka the hop. You'll find nearly 100 varieties of hops are used in craft beer today and each kind of hop has its own unique qualities. Cheers to the IPA! Chain Reaction Brewing Co (Denver) - Happy national ‪#‎IPAday‬ everyone! This iconic style holds a special hoppy place in their hearts at Chain Reaction Brewing Company. To honor the styles history and just all around hoppy goodness today they will be tapping their small batch IPA that was split into 6 fermenters with each fermenter getting a unique yeast. Northern Colorado

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - Funkwerks is now packaging in smaller bottles! 4-packs were released in the taproom last weekend and they have been flying off the shelves! Four 330ml bottles for $11. Now you can enjoy the same award-winning Flagship Saison and their fan favorite Tropic King in a smaller more convenient bottle! If you don't live near the brewery, don't worry, keep a look out because 4-packs of Saison and Tropic King are expected to hit liquor store shelves late August. Due to a recent brewhouse expansion in capacity, this allowed Funkwerks to produce even more of their popular brews and can now package some of them in smaller bottles. They are also now returning to kegging in half barrels and have reduced the cost per fluid ounce for their accounts. Upcoming Release: Look for Funkwerks' "Remi's Rye", a rye saison to be released August 16th. And on the following Saturday, August 23rd, they will release "Dahlia", a Belgian-style Dubbel ale. Big Thompson Brewery (Loveland) - This brewery in planning just got word that all of their brewing equipment has shipped from China. The slow boat is due in the states by the end of the month and their equipment should arrive around September 6th. Just steer clear of those hurricanes near Hawaii m'kay? Crabtree Brewing Co (Greeley) - Today is Double Punch Growler Fill Day. Buy a growler fill today and get two punches on your growler card. Horse & Dragon Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Today for #IPAday they've got their L3 IPA and their Agitated Aardvark Imperial IPA on tap. Also, stop in this Saturday, August 9th for a firkin tapping of their "Whistle Blast Honey Brown", infused with a healthy dose of peanut butter and then cask conditioned. Dodgeton Creek Brewing Co (Trinidad) - Happy IPA Day! In honor of IPA Day they will be pouring some IPA samples tonight from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Stop by for a taste. Stay tuned for word on when this soon-to-open brewery will officially be open. [36730 Democracy Dr, Trinidad, CO]

Gold Camp Brewing Co (Colorado Springs) - Here's an update about where they are in the process of getting open: their TTB application is under review and they hope for good news from that over the next few weeks. They have a hearing for their Conditional Use permit on September 3 and will, hopefully, commence construction on the brewery and tasting room very soon thereafter. THey have a beautiful, all-electric brewing system delivered and tested; it should be ready to brew as soon as they're all licensed up. Basically, they're at the point of working on a ton of paperwork that they have to complete before being able to start construction or brewing. [1009 S Tejon St, Colo. Springs, CO]

Aspen Brewing Co (Aspen) - HAPPY ‪#‎IPADay‬! Aspen Brewing is about to celebrate with their Independence Pass IPA and they hope you will too. It's just one of those days that you need to pay tribute to one of the greatest styles of beers ever created. They just hung this Independence Pass summit sign to kick off #IPADay. Telluride Brewing Co (Telluride) - Word on the street says that Marble Brewery (Albuquerque, NM) and Telluride Brewery recently got together to brew up a collaboration brew called "Fish & Ted's Excellent Collaboration", a Belgo Rye IPA. For a wild twist, they did a second fermentation with Brettanomyces. It's available now on tap at Telluride Brewing. Both breweries will be pouring at this year's San Juan Brew Fest on August 23rd in downtown Durango. [156 Society Dr #DEF, Telluride, CO]
