Trinity Brewing Co (Colorado Springs) - Being a Saison brewery, this is their favorite time to make beer. This Friday, Sept. 5th, kicks off the month with their seasonally spiced Saison, Emma's Pumpkin. It's brewed with an absurd amount of pumpkin, the base of this beer is very earthy and creamy. For the 2014 harvest, they have 2 new Farmhouses, crafted specifically by region. Both are crafted with: fresh berries, a very funky wild Brettanomyces, and Rhubarb for a contribution of bitterness and tartness. Farmhouse Blue features Oregon grown Huckleberries, and releases on Friday Sept. 12th. Farmhouse Red releases the following Friday, Sept. 19th, crafted with the same base recipe, but aged on Colorado grown Chokecherries. Their annual 'Fresh Hop' IPA batch of Houdini Hopper is scheduled to release Friday Sept. 26th. It's lighter and more earthy than most IPAs and features notable hop oils, light earth tones from the use of 100% fresh simcoe whole flowers. [1466 Garden of the Gods Rd, Colo. Springs, CO]

Steamworks Brewing Co (Durango) - Steamworks Brewing Company is hosting Firkin Friday on Sept. 5, 2014, and is offering up a new and interesting take on a strong IPA. The Ruby Red IPA firkin will be tapped at 3pm. The base is their Conductor Imperial IPA and is their most heavily hopped beer. This beer weighs in around 8.7% ABV. They added an alcohol-based grapefruit extract. The variety of hops they use in the IPA – Simcoe – already has flavor and aroma properties similar to that of ruby red grapefruit. Simcoe is a relatively new variety of hop from the Yakima Valley in Washington state, and exclusive in the industry. It’s one of the more difficult hops in the industry to procure, which makes the Ruby Red IPA firkin extra special. [801 E Second Ave, Durango, CO]
