Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Day of Service and Remembrance and also Patriot Day. September 11th, 2001 is a day that Americans will never forget. Spend a moment today to remember the memory of those who were lost and for those who responded to the tragedy. The events of that day was an awful reminder that the price of staying free in this nation often comes at a high cost. Stay alert today, as the possibility of further threats still exist. Toast to the hope of a better future ahead and never forget those who lost their lives in 2001. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, September 11th, 2014. Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - The annual Docktoberfest celebration will take place on Saturday, September 27 at South Dock from 11 am to 11 pm. THey'll have their Oktoberfest lager on tap, bratwursts on the grill, and live music! The Rhinelanders will be playing from 1 to 4 pm. Looking for Dry Dock beer at Denver's other Oktoberfest festivals? Find it on Friday and Saturday September 12 and 13 as the featured brewery at the Lowry Beer Garden's third annual Oktoberfest Celebration. Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - Tomorrow (Friday) in recognition of the impending temperature drop, they'll be releasing a small batch of Double Coffee Stout on Nitro. Oskar Blues Brewery (Lyons/Longmont) - [PRESS RELEASE] Oskar Blues Brewery to Release “High & Dry IPA” at VIVA Lyons on Saturday, September 13th in Bohn Park. This week marks the one year anniversary of the devastating floods that ravaged Oskar Blues Brewery’s hometowns of Lyons & Longmont, CO. To commemorate the anniversary, OB will host VIVA Lyons, a FREE concert featuring The Infamous Stringdusters, with opening remarks by Gov. Hickenlooper. VIVA Lyons will also be the first opportunity for people to taste “High & Dry IPA”, a limited-release flood anniversary beer brewed in Lyons. Made with Munich, Aromatic and Crystal malts donated by BSG Craft Brewing, and featuring Columbus, Centennial and Falconer’s flight hops in the boil, this IPA has a 6.7% ABV and 65 IBUs. The beer is highlighted by a dry hopping of Nelson Sauvin hops which lend a distinct tropical fruitiness and sweetness. The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Earlier this summer, the staff from The Mayor of Old Town got together with New Belgium Brewing and brewed up a collaboration beer. Coming up on Wednesday, September 24th at 6pm at The Mayor of Old Town, they will tap "Dark Side of The Prune", a Belgian-style Quad brewed with a prune puree. There will also be a New Belgium bike give-away this night. It's part of The Mayor's "Tap Into Northern Colorado" two-week event that features 100 of the best Northern Colorado beers in anticipation of the 2014 Great American Beer Festival. New Belgium Brewing (Ft. Collins) - [PRESS RELEASE] New Belgium Brewing is pleased to announce the promotion of long-time Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer, Christine Perich, to the position of President. Perich, who started as CFO with New Belgium in 2004, has overseen all aspects of operations since 2009. At the end of 2012 she guided the company through a 2nd Stage ESOP transaction, which resulted in New Belgium becoming a 100% employee-owned company. Perich will now have oversight of all day-to-day operations and the construction and integration of the company’s second production facility in Asheville, North Carolina, which is slated for completion in late 2015. She will continue to report directly to CEO and co-founder Kim Jordan and New Belgium’s Board of Directors. Current New Belgium Director of Finance and Accounting, Danielle McLarnon, will move into the role of Chief Financial Officer. McLarnon, a graduate of Siena College, has been with New Belgium for more than ten years. Both positions will go into effect immediately.
