Ernie's Bar & Pizza (Denver) - Celebrate Denver Beer Week with a special event called "Grass Roots of Beer". There will be nine breweries represented in this special Tap Takeover. Breweries participating include: Crazy Mountain, Epic Brewing, Renegade Brewing, Glider Cider, Brewery Ommegang, Green Flash Brewing, Elevation Beer, Fort Collins Brewery, and Twisted Pine. Come learn how these grassroots breweries got started. Try their flagship beers. Experiment with their limited editions. Denver Oktoberfest (Denver) - The 45th annual Denver Oktoberfest begins TODAY and runs for two weekends - September 19-21 and 26-28. The festival is located on the streets around 2100 Larimer Street, not too far from Coors Field. Be sure to enter the Stein Hoisting competition each day and qualify for the finals on September 27th at 9pm. This fest is touted as one of America's best Oktoberfests. Admission is FREE.

Zwanze Day (Denver) - Crooked Stave was selected once again to host the only Colorado-based celebration for Zwanze Day. Zwanze Day is a celebration of a special beer "Iris Grand Cru" released by Brasserie Cantillon from Brussels, Belgium. Crooked Stave's Barrel Cellar will host this tapping on Saturday, September 20th. Tickets will be available at the door at 11am and are expected to sell out - so better get in line early. Cash only. Denver International Airport (Denver) - Not exactly what you'd call a beer destination, but DIA will become one temporarily for a few weeks as they are setting up a temporary beer garden in celebration of Oktoberfest (and the GABF too) from September 19th (today) through October 4th. The "Beer Flights" beer garden will be open daily from 11am to 7pm in the Jeppesen Terminal and will cost $10 to get into the area. For $10 you'll get two 10oz samples of beer, a bag of pretzels and a souvenir glass. Several Colorado breweries will be represented in this beer garden including Avery, Breckenridge, Bristol, Dry Dock, Great Divide and a couple others. There will be live music, brewmaster talks, beer trivia and plenty of seating space. There's also a free beer exhibit "Colorado on Tap: The State of Brew Culture" on the pre-security walkway to Concourse A that runs through December.

38 State Brewing Co (Littleton) - Get ready for some fresh hops! Their fresh hop IPA will debut tomorrow, September 20th at both the Bines and Brews Hopfest and in their taproom. Come thirsty! And don't forget to enter their Cornhole Tournament on September 28th. Register at noon and play starts at 2pm. Winning team of two gets a pair of GABF tickets! Mu Brewery (Aurora) - The brewery is hosting their own Harvest Festival tomorrow, September 20th from 3pm to 7pm at the taproom. They'll be tapping "Mu-Toberfest" beer as well as hosting a Chili Cook-off. There will also be several Harvest Themed Games to play. Get into the spirit of the harvest season. Copper Kettle Brewing Co (Denver) - Today they tap their Imperial Pumpkin Porter. It's got traditional pumpkin pie spices. The first 50 customers to order one get it served inside a baby pumpkin. Denver Beer Fest (Denver) - From Sept. 26-Oct. 4, the citywide suds celebration known as Denver Beer Fest will return for its sixth year with hundreds of beer-themed events including Meet the Brewer Nights, beer-paired dinners, firkin nights, brewer versus brewer competitions and much more. All events are listed – and updated daily – at The event was created by VISIT DENVER, The Convention & Visitors Bureau, to offer more beer events around the Great American Beer Festival® (GABF) – organized by the Brewers Association – and also to give local breweries, tap houses, bars and restaurants an opportunity to showcase their products to the 50,000 beer lovers who attend the “Super Bowl” of beer festivals, as well as locals who were unable to get tickets for GABF 2014.

Boulder County

Großen Bart Brewery (Longmont) - They're making good progress on opening the brewery since July. They've progressed by leaps & bounds in Grossen Bart Brewery! THey've successfully installed their floor drains, framed & drywalled the restrooms, received their walk-in cooler, and got their special brewery floors laid down. The majority of their brewing equipment has also arrived. They still don't have an opening date set in stone, but hope to open our doors in mid to late October. They look forward to pouring you a pint of the purest form of outlandish character! Look for Großen Bart to be pouring at the upcoming Longmont Oktoberfest September 26 & 27 in Roosevelt Park. 12Degree Brewing (Louisville) - Their Duplicity (Golden Strong) and Enkidu (Cherry Golden Strong) ales have returned! Both are Brett-fermented, dry, tart, and funky. Come sample them this weekend! While you're at it, you can purchase tickets to their Beer, Cheese & Goats event coming up on Wednesday, October 1st. An excellent way to warm up for GABF! Tickets are $22 in the taproom. Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - In one week, Wild Woods will celebrate their two year anniversary with a party on September 27th from 1-9pm. They will tap several specialty beers just for the occasion including an imperial coffee brown, an imperial IPA, a blonde ale with honey and toasted almonds, a pale ale with toasted coconut, an Oktoberfest lager, and some of their 1st anniversary ale from last year plus 6 year round beers. Left Hand Brewing Co (Longmont) - Come help Left Hand Brewing celebrate their 21st anniversary this weekend. They are releasing their Warrior IPA once again this year. It's brewed with fresh, whole flower Cascade hops with aggressive citrus and pine notes. Stick around late tonight for a music concert featuring their Leftapalooza winner "My Blue Sky" at 9pm. Avery Brewing Co (Boulder) - A Winter holiday ale release in Summer? Might be WAY early, but Avery is releasing their annual "Old Jubilation Ale" today at 5pm in the Tap Room. It has a mahogany hue, hints of hazelnuts, and a finish reminiscent of mocha and toffee. No spices, just a perfect blend of five specialty malts. And it's 8.3% ABV, but still comes in pints and 6-packs. It's their (very) early holiday gift to you! But if you save it til Christmas it might not be as fresh as Santa likes - so enjoy it now. Crystal Springs Brewing Co (Louisville) - Pumpkin beer? Did someone mention pumpkin beer? Yup, and it's tapping tonight in their tasting room at 3:00pm. Get the taste of Fall in a glass. [657 S Taylor Ave, Unit E, Louisville, CO]

Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - [PRESS RELEASE] In September, 2014, Odell Brewing will celebrate the return of autumn with an array of fall brews including its new Fall-Winter Montage Variety Pack. The 12 pack features year-round favorites IPA and 5 Barrel Pale Ale, fall seasonal Isolation Ale, and the latest Roots Release beer, Gramps Oatmeal Stout. Inspired by the brewery’s small-batch pilot system, the Roots Release series honors Odell Brewing’s experimental brewing roots and allows fans to sample some of its favorites. Gramps is brewed with flaked oats and roasted malts, giving it a full body and a creamy smooth mouth feel. Hints of chocolate, coffee and cream blend for a complex yet comforting flavor. The rich brew pairs perfectly with crisp fall evenings, a hearty bowl of chili, or some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. The brewery’s eagerly anticipated fall seasonal six pack offering, Isolation Ale, returns this month as well. Also found in the Fall-Winter Montage Variety pack, Isolation Ale is a classic winter warmer with toasty caramel malts and a subtle spicy hop finish. The annual brew boasts a “100 world-class” rating from the Alström brothers on Beer Advocate. Seasonal 4 pack, Mountain Standard Double Black IPA, also returns in September. The brew features Colorado hops and blends a rich, dark malt character with a crisp, bright hop aroma and flavor. “All told, this is an excellent craft beer,” Erik Kain writes in his review for “It manages to be very strong and very delicious all at once, with a nice round flavor that lingers gently, leaving that perfect balance of bitter and sweet in your mouth long after you've drained your glass.” The brewery will celebrate the return of Mountain Standard and Isolation in the tap room September 20-21, and will tap Gramps Oatmeal Stout on October 1st. Wiley Roots Brewing Co (Greeley) - Over the last few weeks, Wiley Roots has been releasing weekly a different "Hop Studies" hop-centric small batch beer. Last night, they tapped "Derailment", a double IPA that weighs in at 10% ABV and around 160 IBUs. This brew was made with Centennial, Zythos, Columbus and New Zealand Wakatu hops. This is the last of the Hop Studies beers for the season. Today at 6:30pm, Wiley Roots will tap their very first sour beer - Carousel Gose, a sour German wheat with sea salt and coriander. Plus, there's a version with crabapples too. Also, stop in this Saturday, September 20th for Wiley Root's Oktoberfest party from 2pm to 11pm. They'll have authentic German food and will be releasing their annual "O'Zapft Is!", an Oktoberfest-style Maerzen. [625 3rd St, Unit D, Greeley, CO]

Compass Cider (Ft. Collins) - Have you tried their newest small batch release, the Blueberry Cider? Not only is it delicious with tart notes of blueberry and the smooth sweetness of vanilla, but it's also good looking. It's a very limited release, so join in for a tall glass today! Snowbank Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Tonight Snowbank Brewing has a very special beer going on tap at 5pm - Canoabo Porter. They soaked the Venezuela Canoabo cacao husks and nibs from Nuance Chocolate in five gallons of their Pawnee Porter resulting in an effervescent chocolate aroma and velvety chocolate flavor. Stop by for a taster, half pint or full pint of this tonight. With just five gallons this won't last long and you definitely don't want to miss it. The taproom is open until 9pm tonight. Crabtree Brewing Co (Greeley) - Today at 6pm they'll be tapping their Friday Firkin. This week it's an "Orange Creamsicle Porter", an American-style porter with orange peel and vanilla bean. Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - There are two new experimental infusions available at Funkwerks tonight. Try their Saison infused with espresso and Thai chili, or try their Tropic Kin infused with blueberry and orange peel. Yum! [1900 E Lincoln Ave, Ft. Collins, CO]

Horse & Dragon Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Wilkommen, Oktoberfest! Releasing Fort Kölnz in the tasting room today. Yummy, fresh, clean first sip that opens up into a delicious fullness of flavor from this unfiltered Keller Kölsch-style ale. Dodgeton Creek Brewing Co (Trinidad) - Today's tap list includes a three new beers (Cream Ale, Rapture Pale Ale and Lagered Bitter). If you haven't been out in the last week. Friday's hours are 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 10 PM, with a private tasting from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Come join ins tomorrow for Oktoberfest. Four great beers are being tapped, and they're giving away GABF tickets! South Park Brewing Colorado (Fairplay) - The city of Fairplay, tucked in on busy Highway 285 now has it's own brewery. Today South Park Brewing Colorado opens its doors for the first time. They plan to have several beers on tap including a milk stout that they debuted at a festival earlier this month, a saison, an IPA, a pale ale and a brown ale. They will also serve up a variety of pub food as well. Travelers on their way between Denver and Buena Vista can now stop off at the intersection of Hwy 285 and State Highway 9. And while the name indicates an homage to South Park, it is not associated with the cartoon in any way. Grats to owners Paul Kemp and Megan Sebastian for opening their business today. Roaring Fork Beer Co (Carbondale) - They love First Friday's and fall so much that they decided to release not one, but TWO new beers on Friday, October 3rd. Be the First to try their Oktoberfest Amber Lager (5.9% ABV) & their Trippel Strong Belgian Blonde (8% ABV)! Their Oktoberfest is a tribute to the, sausage, leaves changing, leaves falling...this German style Amber Alt-Bier has a deep orange color, a subtle and spicy hop presence, and a crisp finish from the use of an authentic strain of German Kolsch yeast. The Trippel is deceptively strong and dangerously delicious. Brewed with oats, wheat, light candi sugar, and saaz hops, it is golden in color, and has a slight candy like sweetness with big aromas of spice & banana and just enough hops to balance it all out. Pagosa Brewing Co (Pagosa Springs) - Tomorrow, Saturday September 20th, marks the release of their "Great Pumpkin Ale". They'll be pouring it both at their taproom and at the Band & Brews Fest in Town Park in Pagosa Springs. This may not be your mom's pumpkin pie, but it's just as tasty. Out of State Beers in Colorado

Ballast Point Brewing (California) - [PRESS RELEASE] Elite Brands of Colorado and Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits are excited to announce a distribution deal to bring Ballast Point to Colorado. “We've been waiting for the right time to go into Colorado, and now that our new brewery is online, we can make that happen," explained Earl Kight III, Chief Commercial Officer. "We've chosen a great partner in Elite Brands, and we are excited to see how our beer does in this market." "There is a lot of good beer being made in Colorado, so it's a testament to us that folks are still asking for Ballast Point," said Jack White, Ballast Point Founder and CEO. "Denver is a great beer market, and we're excited to be a part of it again." Elite Brands is expecting the first shipment of beer to arrive at the end of September. They will be releasing four beers into the Colorado market in limited quantities for the time being. The lineup includes Sculpin IPA, Calico Amber Ale, Pale Ale and Big Eye IPA, both in package and draft options.
