Metro Denver

Wonderland Brewing Co (Broomfield) - Oh, do they have a Halloween treat for you. Stop by the tasting room for a pint of their pumpkin ale release before taking the kiddos out to trick-or-treat - come in costume if you're extra bold! Their first pumpkin beer celebrates the bounty of the fall harvest in a more traditional, Mesoamerican way. They combined fresh roasted pumpkin with cacao nibs, cinnamon, vanilla, and a smattering of chili peppers to highlight the best of ancient cuisine. Earthy Belgian yeast creates notes of pepper and clove, and it was barrel aged! They took this special brew and aged it in barrels to give it another layer of complexity not often found, but well deserved, to highlight the new fall season! [5450 W 120th Ave, Broomfield, CO]

AC Golden Brewing Co (Golden) - AC Golden is offering a seasonal beer called "100% Whole Wheat Bock" and will soon be released for this year. Wheat has been used in brewing for centuries to give beers distinctive bready flavors, sparkling effervescence, and a silky, creamy, mouthfeel without adding heavy body. Wheat malt is unique in that it has no husk. To brewers, this means less astringency, and is more difficult to brew with due to having no husk. This beer is very different as it used 100$ red wheat, grown and malted in Germany. The brewing process also took twice as long. After brewing, they aged this beer for 3 month before bottling and another year in the bottles to develop the sherry and melanoidin characters typical of Bock style beers. This 7.5% ABV whole wheat Bock beer is available in limited release in the Denver area. They've only made a few batches of this over the years. Look for it in 750ml bottles in stores now.
