Colorado Beer NewsToday is Veterans Day - also known as Armistice Day. It's a day to honor veterans of our US armed forces. Our veterans sacrificed a lot to help us win and keep our freedom. Take some time out today to thank the veterans in your community for their service and efforts that help keep America safe and free. 2014 Parade of Darks (Denver) - [PRESS RELEASE] The fifth annual dark-beer festival to raise funds for Metro CareRing returns! The highly anticipated fifth annual Parade of Darks presented by Wynkoop Brewing Company returns on Saturday, December 6 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. at the Bindery On Blake (2901 Blake Street). This event benefits Metro CareRing, Denver’s leading hunger-relief organization. Last year, Metro CareRing distributed more than 1.8 million pounds of food. Previous Parade of Darks events have raised more than $40,000 for the organization, and this year Wynkoop will again be donating 100 percent of the profits to Metro CareRing. Parade of Darks is a holiday tradition showcasing beers in the amber to opaque categories. Featuring more than 60 beers from 25+ breweries, attendees are sure to leave feeling warm and fuzzy. Current participating breweries include: Avery Brewing Co, Crazy Mountain Brewing Co, Elevation Beer Co, Epic Brewing C, Great Divide Brewing Co, Grimm Brothers Brewhouse, Odell Brewing Co, Odyssey Beerwerks, Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew, River North Brewery, Squatters & Wasatch Beers, Strange Craft Beer Co, Tivoli Brewing, Twisted Pine Brewing Co, Verboten Brewing, and Wynkoop Brewing Co. Parade of Darks is open to adults 21 and older. Event tickets are $35 and include a commemorative glass for unlimited sampling. They are also accepting donations to help support the Wounded Warrior Project. Also - On November 28th, Loveland Aleworks will be releasing their Barrel Aged Grand Grand Cru in the taproom. High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - This Wednesday's firkin tapping will be an "ESB2". An English-style bitter aged for 4 months and dry-hopped with Pacific Jade for a nice, peppery aroma. Then on Thursday, it's the debut of "Dr. Pat's #17". This IPA was brewed with Lemon Verbena that they grew on their farm. It was inspired by their Golden One, this brew has a lemony, citrusy flavor.
