Colorado Beer NewsToday is a wake up call that there is just Four Weeks Left to do Holiday Shopping. This is Thanksgiving week and the end of year holiday's are now less than a month away. Have you gotten your shopping list figured out yet? If you have a craft beer lover in your household (other than yourself) just remember that a gift certificate to their favorite brewery taproom, beer bar or homebrew shop is always a welcome idea. Help support your local craft breweries and businesses this holiday season. Most breweries are closed Thursday, so stock up for the holidays today! Stuck with the in-laws for Thanksgiving? Copper Kettle Brewing Co (Denver) - November's "Happy Thanksgiving"-themed Cask Month tappings are drawing to a close tomorrow (Wed. November 26th) with a tapping of a Pecan Pie Brown Ale. Westminster Brewing Co (Westminster) - Don't forget today they kick off their 1 year anniversary celebrations with the tapping of "Forbidden Fig Stout"! It's their anniversary beer that has been aged 3 weeks on figs. Today in the tasting lab they are doing free 4oz samples of it from 4-6pm and happy hour prices on all growler fills. THey are not normally open on Wednesdays but have had a high volume of customer requests for it so they want to give the customer what they want. This means customers get the chance to bring friends and family into their local brewery to do some pre thanksgiving celebration and it will also give customers the chance to fill up some growlers to pair with the succulent turkeys that will be cooking. Diebolt Brewing Co (Denver) - [PRESS RELEASE] The beer you've been waiting for has finally arrived! The first of their Ex-Pat Series to hit the big system is ready, just in time for the holidays. What's the Ex-Pat Series and what's an Algerian Biere de Garde? Their Ex-Pat Series explores French colonialism past and present through indigenous ingredients. They choose a colonial entity, select interesting or unique ingredients from this area and incorporate them into French beer styles like Biere de Garde, Saison or Grisette. Pieds Noir means Black Foot and refers to people of French and other European ancestry who lived in North Africa particularly Algeria. This Ex-Pat features a sweet Algerian curry, palm sugar and figs which give it the color of the Saharan sands, the heady, spiced aroma of an outdoor bazaar and the figgy flavor of the cradle of civilization. Great Divide Brewing Co (Denver) - Worried about showing up empty-handed to another holiday party because your cooking skills are just that bad? Great Divide has you covered. Their Peach Grand Cru is back for a limited time and is a perfect beer to pair with food. This Belgian-style ale, brewed with 1600 pounds of fresh Palisade peaches per 50 barrel batch, became a fast favorite when they released it in bottles last year. Bring this along to any holiday party and you'll immediately be forgiven for burning the baby quiche. Station 26 Brewing Co (Denver) - They're open today with normal hours (2-10pm) and they're tapping a keg of Cherry Milk Stout because they feel like it. Liquid Mechanics Brewing Co (Lafayette) - They just filled an 84 oz. FLASK with their beer. You heard that right, an 84 oz. FLASK. They fill all kinds of growlers in a day, but this was a first. Most importantly, thank you all for coming out to support the Louisville Turkey Trot pre-party today and donate food for Sister Carmen. Every bit helps. FATE Brewing Co (Boulder) - FATE Brewing Company is expanding. Their new expansion project will include a new barrel aging room, improved production facilities and nearly 100% production capacity increase. Construction is scheduled to begin in December and be completed by early 2015. Just a reminder, they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Fresh from the fermenters this week is Skuld Barrel Aged Smoked Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Plus, their Tequila Barrel Aged Uror Gose is back in bottles and is on sale at the brewery. They just tapped their Ryedorado Extra Pale Ale. Also, they will be opening early on Saturday, November 29th at 9am for pre-game fun as CU Buffs take on Utah. BRU handbuilt ales & eats (Boulder) - Every month Beer Chef / Founder Ian Clark of BRU handbuilt ales & eats showcases his passion for all things food and beer with a monthly beer dinner. For the month of December he has paired up with neighbors Wilds Woods Brewery for a festive dinner. Inspired by Wild Woods owners, Jake and Erin Evans’ vegetarian lifestyle he created a menu that shares the deliciousness of all things vegetarian! Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co (Glenwood Springs) - What's on tap this week? They will have their Forest Hollow Pumpkin Ale on through Thanksgiving. Dos Rios Vienna -Style Lager will also continue through Thanksgiving. They are looking forward to releasing their Storm King Dunkel Lager once turkey day is over. The Storm King Dunkel is an amazing example of the Munich Dunkel style. It appears dark brown in color with a garnet tint. It has a rich Munich malt sweetness with hints of chocolate, nuts, and caramel in the aroma. The flavor is dominated by rich complex Munich malts and Melanoidins, reminiscent of bread crusts. We balanced the sweetness out with Noble hops but this beer is definitely a malty lager! [402 7th St, Glenwood Springs, CO]
