Dad & Dude's Breweria - [Press Release] Dad & Dude’s Breweria, one of Colorado’s smallest brewpubs and breweries, enjoyed an impressive amount of annual growth and brewing progress in 2014. The company’s total beer production for 2014 was 1,016 barrels, a 116% increase over its 2013 production. That production included an expanded list of extra-small-batch, draft-only beer handcrafted on the brewpub’s 1.5-barrel “nano” system. Despite this tiny system and heavy on-site demand from its customers, the brewpub made 10 year-round beers, 14 seasonals and one-off beers, and 8 barrel-aged beers. Dad & Dude’s 2014 production also included about 700 barrels of the company’s canned flagship beer -- Dank IPA – and two new canned beers, Leaves of Lemongrass Wit and Ryeot Red Ale. In 2014 Dad & Dude’s also solidified an alternating proprietorship with Rockyard Brewing Company (Castle Rock, CO) that enabled the brewery to quickly increase production of its canned goods. The brewery’s 2014 progress was led by Brian Connery, Dad & Dude’s Director of Brewing Operations and a former brewer for Dogfish Head who joined Dad & Dude’s at the beginning of 2014. “In 2014,” Connery says, “we also introduced a nitro program, a weekly oaked-beer program, and expanded our number of barrel-aged beers from one to eight. Instead of a one seasonal beer for each season, we made four.” To celebrate 2014 and start 2015 with a bang, Dad & Dude’s is now releasing a trio of new, ultra-limited-release, 22-oz bottled beers at its brewpub. There are only 72 bottles of each of these beers, which were produced in 3-barrel batches. These beers are: Lion Heart Barley Wine, Bourbon Barrel-Aged Lionheart Barley Wine and Zinful (beer/wine hybrid). [6730 S Cornerstar Way, Aurora, CO]

River North Brewery - [PRESS RELEASE] River North to Celebrate 3rd Birthday with 17.2% Anniversary Ale Next month, River North Brewery will celebrate its third anniversary with a four-day extravaganza! Continuing in the tradition of pushing boundaries with their anniversary beers, River North’s brewers have crafted their strongest offering yet. Anniversary Ale #3, a 17.2% ABV Bière de Garde, will kick off River North’s birthday party Friday, February 13th at 1pm! “There aren’t many ways to spin this. We wanted to push our limits,” Founder and Brewmaster Matt Hess said. “Bière de Garde is such a beautiful, balanced beer style. And while Anny 3 may test the definition of balance, it’s certainly a thing of beauty.” Bursting with notes of stone fruit and complemented by undertones of anise and citrus, Anniversary Ale #3 finishes with a pleasant warming sensation. The beer will serve as the centerpiece for a weekend-long gauntlet of rare tappings. Events include: Friday, Feb 13th: Anniversary Ale #3 kickoff tapping! Both draft pours and bottles-to-go will be available starting at 1pm. Bombers will cost $15 with a half-case limit, and the beer will remain on tap all weekend. Saturday, February 14th: Side-by-side-by-side tapping of Anniversary Ales for Valentine’s Day! Anniversary #1 (12.5% Stout), Anniversary #2 (10.2% Golden Strong Ale), and Anniversary #3 kegs will all tap at 1pm. Both of the previous year’s vintages are the last keg in the brewery. Roaming Bull Brasserie, a local food truck, will also join the party. Sunday, February 15th: Cellar sale! River North will dig through their reserves and sell rare bottles from the past year, starting at 1pm. An official list and format will be released later, but look for beers from the past two years to be included. The taproom will also host a beer and donut pairing from local bakers Bronuts. Monday, February 16th: Since it’s Presidents’ Day, the taproom will open early at 1pm, and the brewery will continue to tap rare kegs throughout the day. While Anniversary Ale #3 will be on tap all weekend, River North also has a reserve of specialty kegs like Barrel Reserve 2013 & 2014, Whiskey Barrel Quandary 2013 & 2015, Big City Quad, Oud Bruin and J. Marie Barreled & Bretted. Follow the brewery on social media for tappings as they happen. Many of these kegs are the last of their kind. More bottles of Anniversary Ale #3 will hit store shelves in Colorado following the release party. The high-alcohol nature of the beer makes it ideal for aging. [2401 Blake St, Unit 1, Denver, CO]

Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing - [PRESS RELEASE] Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing (CSA) had a huge 2014, growing its number of artisan beer brands to 80 and expanding its portfolio of unique ciders, as well as forging a new distribution relationship with Dallas-based Sublime Imports. Over the last year, Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing (CSA) brought in craft beers from over 10 states and 15 countries. The brands new to CSA in 2014 include: Fremont Brewing (Seattle, WA), Oakshire Brewing (Eugene, OR), Almanac Beer Company (San Francisco, CA), Breakside Brewing (Portland, OR), Jester King Brewery (Austin, TX), Westbrook Brewing (Mount Pleasant, SC), Cascade Brewing (Portland, OR), Gigantic Brewing (Portland, OR), Magnolia Brewing (San Francisco, CA), Green Bench Brewing (St. Petersburg, FL), Off Color Brewing (Chicago, IL), Against the Grain (Louisville, KY), Cambridge Brewing Company (Cambridge, MA), Brasserie Blaugies (Belgium), and Brasserie de la Senne (Belgium). Through a new distribution relationship with Sublime Imports (Dallas, TX), Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing added unique offerings from two breweries in Israel – Malka Brewery and Alexander Beer – as well as several breweries from Spain including Mateo & Bernabé and Friends, Premium Beers from Spain, and Cervezas la Cibelas. Seeing a gap in the local market, CSA made a push over the last six months to bring in artisanal ciders never before seen in Colorado. By the end of December 2014, CSA’s cider portfolio reached 12 brands, including farmhouse offerings from L'Hermitère (France), ice ciders and cider aperitifs from Eden Ice Cider Company (West Charleston, VT), as well as a still table cider from Argus Cidery (Austin, TX). Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing also added meads from Celestial Meads (Anchorage, AK) and Green River Ambrosia (Greenfield, MA) to its portfolio. At the end of the year, Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing branched out beyond the realm of fermented beverages, adding Denver-based The Real Dill’s Bloody Mary Mix to its line-up. “Crooked Stave Artisans Distributing is the accumulation of sincere interest and dedication for fermented products and hand-crafted consumables,” says CSA Buyer, André DiMattia. “With a hope of representing the craft of fellow minded creators, we at Crooked Stave Artisans wish to curate a portfolio of interesting and memorable beer, cider, mead, and spirits, as well as a range of independent Colorado businesses. Artisans distributing artisans is what we strive for at CSA and we only hope to grow that dedication in 2015.” While CSA will continue to focus on bringing exceptional beer, cider, and mead to the Denver market in 2015, the distribution company also plans to enter the wine and spirits categories. Expect offerings from Portland-based New Deal Craft Spirits including handcrafted vodka, gin and unique flavored liqueurs including coffee and ginger in the spring. CSA expects to start carrying wine from small producers and vintners in the fall of 2015.

Ska Brewing Co - [PRESS RELEASE] It’s official! Ska Brewing Company and Stone Brewing Co. will be brewing a beer together this Friday, January 30 at Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Liberty Station. This beer will be one of the 50 once-in-a lifetime beers available at Collaboration Fest. Collaboration Fest is the headline event of Colorado Craft Beer Week and takes place on March 21 from 3 - 7 p.m. at Sports Authority Field at Mile High (1701 Bryant St. Denver CO 80204). “Collaboration Fest is such a great event and really highlights the community within the craft beer industry,” said Dave Thibodeau, founder of Ska Brewing Company. “Ska has been working with Stone for years and being able to show off our relationship on a stage like this is the best anniversary party.” Ska and Stone’s relationship goes back more than a decade. The two breweries currently distribute each other’s beer in their home regions and have similar goals and values. When Ska asked Stone to collaborate on this beer it was an easy sell, or it may have just been a ploy to hangout with some friends at the beach. Sean McKesson, a former Stone brewer, had recently joined the Ska team and had an idea for a collaboration beer, a Tripel Tripple brewed with Bagstonge Belgian Ale yeast. Coming up with a name was easy, “The Mighty Mighty Bastogne.” The idea for this beer has been set. The next steps, brewing, will take place on a 10-barrel brewhouse located at Stone’s second restaurant and brewery in the Point Loma neighborhood of San Diego this Friday, January 30. Tickets for Collaboration Fest are on sale now at CollaborationFest.com. [225 Girard St, Durango, CO]
