[Northern Colorado Beer News] - Summer is almost here but already it feels like the Dog Days of Summer are close by. Beat the heat with a refreshing craft brew from your favorite Northern Colorado craft brewery. Today's Fermentedly Challenged NoCo Beer News will perhaps help you decide which watering hole to visit later today. Always new beers being released, some upcoming brewery events as well as a Grand Opening later this month. With nearly 100 establishments in NoCo, there's always something going on at a taproom near you. Here's what's happening around the Northern Colorado craft beer scene today Tuesday, June 7th, 2016. Boulder County

Avery Brewing Company wants you to plan ahead for their next barrel-aged sour beer release. Coming up on Sunday, June 19th is release No. 38 - Certatio Equestris. This brew was aged in bourbon barrels with spearmint added. It weighs in at 8.9% ABV. There were 1396 cases produced and will be bottled on June 13th. This brew may remind you a bit of a Mint Julep. Bottle sales start at 11am with a limit of 1 case per person. Get in line on the 19th at: 4910 Nautilus Court North, Boulder, CO.

Boulder Beer Company is making big plans for this years 37th Anniversary Celebration set for Saturday, July 16th from 12pm to 10pm. They're planning for a special Rare & Barrel Aged Beer Garden to be open that day from 12-6pm. Plus, they'll have live music going all day long featuring The Goonies from 6-9pm. No cover charge for this event. Mark your calendar! Located at: 2880 Wilderness Pl, Boulder, CO.

Front Range Brewing Company has a full tap list available this week with 10 different beers including: Prairie Fire Helles, Sonnebahn Berlinerweisse, Piney Ridge Dunkel, Andy's Honey Pale Ale, Altitude Red Ale, Hogback Double IPA, Colorado Fall Coffee Stout, Coal Creek Brown Ale, Snowguard Belgian Dubbel (on nitro), and Waneka Lake Baltic Porter (on nitro). Plus, they also make their own homemade Root Beer (N/A) too! Get $10 Growler fills every Thursday (normally $16-$22). Located at 400 W South Boulder Rd, Ste 1650, Lafayette, CO.

Odd13 Brewing got together with three other Colorado breweries (Cerebral Brewing, Fiction Brewing, & Weldwerks Brewing Co) and came up with one big collaboration beer. At Odd13 the beer is known as Robot Librarian, a collaborative Double IPA that weighs in at a respectable 8.25% ABV and 80 IBUs. The beer was hopped with Citra, Simcoe, Mosaic, Galaxy and El Dorado hops. Robot Librarian will be released on June 16th at their taproom on tap and in cans. You might also know this beer by its other aliases: Superfan, Rare Traits, Cosmic Unity and Juicy Bits. Stop in on the 16th to try one out. Located at: 301 E Simpson Street, Lafayette, CO.

The Old Mine Cidery & Brewpub will host Tuesday Trivia tonight at 7pm. Trivia tonight is all about the TV show "Breaking Bad"! Bring some friends to compete as a team, grab some cider or a beer and test your Breaking Bad knowledge to try to win the $25 The Old Mine Gift Card. Located at: 500 Briggs Street, Erie, CO.

Sanitas Brewing is gearing up for their 3rd Annual Sanitas Fest set for Saturday, June 18th from 12:30pm to 10pm at the brewery. The fest combines local music, Sanitas beer and tasty food. Featured artists include: Hop Pickers, Musketeer Gripweed, The Drunken Hearts, and DJ Z-STaaR. In addition, they will also host Jenna Bee Yoga and the La Sportiva 5K Fun RUn prior to the fest. Shine Brewing Company not only brews up fine craft beer, but they also put out a line of Shine Potions as well. Shine Potions are described as a purposeful combination of substances that have been put together to create a desired effect or what they call a magical effect. These potions come in a variety of magical flavors including: Three Laughing Monks(for laughter), Owl Eyes (for clarity & focus), and Fairy Bubbles (for joy, mirth and fanciful states of being). Shoes & Brews has something for your July calendar to get ready for. Plan to participate in their 2nd Annual Collabeeration 5K & Brewfest to be held at the store on July 23rd starting at 10am. This is in celebration of their 2nd birthday. They brewed up some beer with Left Hand Brewing. The fest will feature Longmont brewed beers. Brew sampling is included with your race registration. Listen to great music, get a chance at some giveaways and check out their running gear. Free shuttle service from Left Hand Brewing in their Wake Up Dead limo. Twisted Pine Brewing Company will host their 3rd Annual Party With A Purpose event this Saturday, June 11th at the brewery. They'll be giving 10% of the entire day's sales to Boulder Food Rescue. BFR has redirected over 1.2 million pounds of food to the hungry in Boulder over the years. Come help out BRF at Twisted Pine this Saturday. Live music that day from Jacob Green starting at 6pm too. Upslope Brewing Company was closed at their Flatiron Park location yesterday in order to bust open some walls and make way for some big patio doors. They want to bring part of their taproom outdoors and let more of that sunshine indoors! Come check it out today. In other news, Upslope Brewing recently took home a GOLD in the Lager category at the 2016 North American Beer Awards for their Upslope Craft Lager. Grats! Walnut Brewery has planned a June Tapping Party this Thursday, June 9th at 6pm for their Rodney's Summer Honey Ale. The tapping event runs for 30 minutes so better get a seat early. Also, look for Walnut Brewery to be pouring at this year's Telluride Blues & Brews Festival in September. Located at: 1123 Walnut Street, Boulder, CO.

Wild Woods Brewery has a couple of beer releases planned for this week starting today with the release of their Peppercorn Pilsner on tap along with other seasonal lagers. And then on Thursday June 9th stop back for the release of their Oaked Sorachi IPA, a small batch brew available in bomber bottles for the 1st time. Sorachi hops give this brew unique lemon and dill notes that compliment the rye malt and oak. Also available on draft too. Located at: 5460 Conestoga Ct, Boulder, CO.


Larimer County

Big Beaver Brewing Company reminds you that their 5th Annual "Running of the Wieners Dachshund Race" is coming up in 4 days. Register your wiener dog for the race by June 8th. Even if you don't have a dog to race, come watch the fun on June 11th over at 245 S Madison Avenue in Loveland, CO. Gate opens at 11am and the Races run from 1-4:30pm. C.B. & Potts Brewery & Taphouse at Campus West is thrilled that they recently won a Silver at the North American Beer Awards for their Irascible Zipper American Barleywine. It's still on draft at the brewery. They also have single bottles for sale at the brewery as well. Be prepared - it weighs in at a big 10% ABV. Located at: 1427 W Elizabeth St, Fort Collins, CO.

Maxline Brewing - The date has been set for their Grand Opening - Saturday, June 18th from 5pm to 10pm. There will be brewery tours, live music, patio games, BBQ, meet the brewer session as well as prizes for lucky patrons. Fort Collins' newest brewery is located at 2701 S College Avenue, Unit 190 - in mid-town FoCo. Beers actually start pouring around 11am but the big party starts at 5pm due to the Brewers Olympics. The the MAX, ride your bike or drive in - plenty of parking. Dogs are also welcome. Izze and Root Beer for the kids. No cover.

Prost Tasting Room has one of the best deals in town on Mondays (ya I know one day late). Every Monday you can get 2 for 1 growler fills on great Prost beers. Can't get much better than that. Snowbank Brewing Company is hosting Tech Tuesday today. If you work for a tech company like Avago Tecnologies, Intel, HP Inc, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Biotech, Otter Box, Madwire, Woodward and the like - let them know and get $2 off pints of your choice today from 2pm to 8pm. Verboten Brewing & Barrel Project is getting ready for Summer and will be releasing a beer called "In Love with Summer", a strawberry rhubarb wheat beer on the 1st day of Summer, June 20th. This much loved brew will definitely get you into the Summer mood. Located at: 127 E 5th St, Loveland, CO.

Zwei Brewing wants you to save the date for Saturday, June 18th for their Bark 'N' Brew burger cookout and beer release event from 11am to 3pm at the brewery. This event will help raise money for Elder Pet Care - Dr. Thomas. 100% of the proceeds during the event go directly to this cause. Weld County

Brix Taphouse & Brewery is hosting Customer Appreciation Day today, Tuesday June 7th with $2 off beers from 2-5pm and $1 off from 5-10pm. Plus there will be a special Tuesday Pint Night line-up from Boulder Beer Company tonight as well. Stop back in Wednesday night for beers and music from Ben Pu. Grand Lake's 16th Street Tavern will be hosting Trivia night tonight, June 7th at 7pm. They're giving away 4 free rounds of 18 hole golf at Boomerang Golf Course (Greeley) to the 1st place team. High Hops Brewery wants to invite you to their upcoming firkin release set for this Wednesday, June 8th at 5:00pm at the taproom. This time, the firkin is "Son of a Beech! ...wood", an American-style light lager. It was aged on Beechwood to get the brew something extra - similar to how Big Brother does it. Next, live music as always on Friday & Saturday night as well as Sunday late afternoon. Later this weekend, catch High Hops pouring at the Summer Sampler Beer Fest on June 11th at the Peak to Peak Tap Room in Aurora, CO. High Hops Brewery: 6461 Hwy 392, Windsor, CO.

Weldwerks Brewing Company is planning to release another great variation on their Medianoche brew. This time they toasted up 25 pounds of shredded coconut and added it to the latest batch. Coconut Medianoche Imperial Stout will be released on Sunday, June 19th (Father's Day). They're also putting aside a portion of it to age in bourbon barrels and saving that for a 2017 release. As a bonus, they will be releasing both a Coconut and Vanilla version on this Father's Day in 375ml bottles. They claim these are their best variants to date thanks to the extended aging they did (over 12 months). Limit 2 bottles of each variant per person. Plus a limited amount available on tap (sorry no growler fills of that). Located at: 508 8th Avenue, Greeley, CO.
