[Northern Colorado Beer News] - Today marks another beer holiday - it's International Beer Day! This time it's the entire world invited to celebrate everything that is our go-to beverage. Everyone is encouraged to use hashtag #IntlBeerDay on social media today when you post about beer. On a day like today, you're encouraged to try a beer you've never had before and here in Colorado, there's always plenty of new craft beers to explore. Enjoy one while you watch the 2016 Summer Games! Lots of beer festivals this weekend too. Here's what's happening around the Northern Colorado craft beer scene today, Friday, August 5th, 2016. Be sure to tell your friends about Fermentedly Challenged and read the news daily Tuesday through Friday. If you aren't reading this article on, you're not getting the full story.

Boulder County Breweries

300 Suns Brewing is hosting Barley-Har-Har Comedy Open Mic night tonight from 9pm to 11pm. Every first Friday and 3rd Thursday of the month come join in with comics from all over Colorado. Since it's Open Mic, you're invited to tell your best jokes. The show is FREE to listen in or participate. A beer or two should loosen your tongue for this event. Come and get ready to laugh. J Wells Brewery - There's a new beer on tap this weekend. Come try their new Golden Belgium Strong Ale. It's a whopper at 9.3% ABV and it's very smooth and not too heavy. Taproom open from 3:00pm to 9:00pm tonight. Located at: 2516 49th St, Ste 5, Boulder, CO.

Left Hand Brewing Company - Don't forget - tonight is the premiere of the 2017 Women of Colorado Craft Beer Pin-Up Calendar and you can get your copy in the Left Hand Tasting Room tonight. Meet the ladies, enjoy swing dancing, a live Rockabilly band, check out some awesome vintage cars and enjoy a beer or two. Calendar event runs from 5-8pm. Located at: 1265 Boston Ave, Longmont, CO.

Odd13 Brewing - Heads up! The brewery is closed today in preparation for tomorrow's big Anniversary Party from Noon to 11pm. They'll be pouring some tasty sour beers and hazy IPA's. Powder Keg Brewing Company - Fresh craft beer and live music this weekend at Power Keg Brewing. Come listen to "Wildwood Roots" tonight from 7pm to 10pm. Then on Saturday night, enjoy the acoustic sounds of Sam Storm from 7pm to 10pm. Located at: 101 2nd Ave, Niwot, CO.

Pumphouse Brewery - Help support the Arts in Longmont. On Tuesday, August 9th, come dine & drink at Pumphouse Brewery as they are celebrating their Director's birthday and are raising money for Arts Longmont. Stop in to try some of these dark ones: Nitro Norwegian Wheat Stout, Nitro Moloko Coffee Cream Stout, Nihilist Russian Imperial Stout and also their Bourbon Barrel-aged Oatimus Prime Imperial Oatmeal Stout. The Post Brewing Company - Last night, did The Post tap a brand new IPA for IPA Day? - F'n Right they did! F'n Right is an IPA brewed with Sterling and Azacca hops to create a juicy hop escapade. $1 of every pint of it goes towards the Lafayette Professional Firefighters fundraiser for Muscular Dystrpohy (Fill The Boot). Twisted Pine Brewing Company - You've heard of beer on a nitro tap before, but how about coffee? Yup, Twisted Pine now serves up Corvus Coffee's Rwanda cold brew coffee on their nitro tap! It has berry sweetness and a super smooth coffee finish. Sober up after a brew or two with a nitro coffee. They've got the Olympics on TV too. Located at: 3201 Walnut St, Boulder, CO.

Very Nice Brewing Company - There's a full lineup of beers to go along with the full lineup of live music in the taproom this weekend at Very Nice Brewing Co. Friday brings the sounds of "New Family Dog" from 6-8pm. Saturday brings acoustic music from "Scupanon" from 6-8pm. And Sunday has the sounds of "Wildwood Roots" from 6-8pm. Try the recently tapped: California Common collaboration brew they did with Grossen Bart Brewing. Located at: 20 Lakeview Dr, Unit 112, Nederland, CO.

Vindication Brewing Company - Keep this one in mind for when you're looking for a beer on Mondays. Vindication Brewing offers $1.50 off pints every Monday! Also ask about their Brewer's Dozen and Lucky 13 reward programs. Currently on tap: Freedom Stout, Momentum IPA, American Bold Ale, Scarlett's Red Ale, India Pale Ale, and a Citrus IPA. Vision Quest Brewery is tapping a Cranberry Hibiscus Gose this weekend. Made with cranberry juice and locally sources Hibiscus. Stop by for a glass. Located at: 2510 47th St, Unit A2, Boulder, CO.

Walnut Brewery - Now through August 10th, Walnut Brewery is partnering with Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and is donating 50 cents from every Double IPA sold to this group that helps save lives locally. RMRG just helped rescue 2 stranded hikers on the Boulder Flatirons this last week too! Located at: 1123 Walnut St, Boulder, CO.

Wibby Brewing - Stop in tonight for the release of their "No Dos Vienna Lager", brewed to resemble a traditional Vienna lager, using mostly German ingredients. It's a ProAm beer that was lightly hopped, smooth and malty! Enjoy one during the Summer 2016 Games Opening Ceremony - they'll have it on with the sound on tonight. Berthoud Brewing Company has a new beer tapped tonight. Stop in for a glass of their Farmers Harvest, a Belgian-style farmhouse ale made with local honey and a touch of lavender. You're gonna love it.

Big Beaver Brewing Company - Now on tap - Guava Sour Ale. It's a big beautiful beer that practically counts towards your daily serving recommendation of fruit! Enjoy a pint tonight. Also, it's Free Beer Friday with a special keg that they pour for free (brewer's choice). Get your 1st beer free during the 1st half hour of each hour until it kicks. Big Thompson Brewery is hosting Cooking With Beer tonight at 6:30pm. Come watch the Matador Mexican Grill do a cooking demonstration and try some of their free taco samples. Ask the cooks questions while you drink your beer. Also, if you want some of Big Thompson's Hazemaker NE IPA you'd better hurry, the last keg of it is about to kick. City Star Brewing - The Olympians aren't the only ones winning medals. City Star has their fair share of them too. Loveland Aleworks - Over the last 4 weeks, Loveland Aleworks has released 4 new seasonal beers to their tap lineup including today's release - Double Birds Imperial IPA. It's never too late to keep celebrating IPA's. They still have these other seasonal ales on tap: Citra Hefeweizen, Rye Pale Ale w/ Grapefruit, English Brown Ale, American Red Ale w/ Cucumber, and their Strawberry Sour Ale. Coming up next week on August 12th is the release of their Oatmeal Chocolate Stout! Don't forget to come see them at the Gnarly Barley Brew Fest this Saturday at The Ranch in Loveland. Old Colorado Brewing Company - Unwind from the work week at Old Colorado tonight. There'll be fresh beer and live music with Linda Anderson & Makenzie Willox starting at 6:30pm and running til 9:00pm. Pateros Creek Brewing Company is hosting a Charity Comedy Showcase tonight starting at 7pm. There's a $7 door charge to get in ($5 if you buy early). The show will be headlined by Denver favorite Nathan Lund plus a local favorite Weston Unruh. Six comedians in all! Come laugh for a good cause - support for the MusiCares charity. Plus, Screamin' Sicilian will be on site starting at 5pm handing out FREE samples of their pizza.

Snowbank Brewing Company - Today Snowbank Brewing is tapping one of their newest experimental brews: Cherry Sourado. It's a beer infused with fresh tart cherries. Verboten Brewing will be pouring 5 beers at tomorrow's Gnarly Barley Brew Fest in Loveland. Stop by and taste these brews: Thinking of Something Orange, Watermelon Roll in Ze Hay Gose, Silent Guardian Imperial IPA, Walking the Parapet Bourbon Barrel Aged Porter, and their 10% ABV Strudel Stout (which also debuts in their taproom today). Broken Plow Brewery - Good news! Broken Plow's Apricot Wheat is now back on tap. Stop in tonight for a brew and listen to live music from Whitebird starting at 7pm. Elements Wood Fired Grill will be parked outside serving up some tasty food. Located at: 4731 W 10th St, Unit G, Greeley, CO.

Crabtree Brewing Company - Every 1st Friday of the month is a Firkin Friday with something special on tap from the brewers' creative minds. Come see what secret tap they have this month - taps at 6pm. Also, Fridays are Teachers Pint Night where teachers enjoy $4 pints. Better get your beer now teachers - summers almost over! High Hops Brewery - With 40 taps, there's going to be something on tap you're going to love. Plus there's live music Friday, Saturday and Sunday too with food trucks parked out nightly on the patio. Tonight listen to Aires Attic from 6-8pm. On Saturday, enjoy and sounds of IDLEFOX. And on Sunday, listen in to Crispy Watkins & River from 3pm to 5pm.
