[Northern Colorado Beer News] - What beer pairs best on National S'mores Day? Porters and stouts perhaps! It's also the start of the hop harvest and already NoCo breweries are starting to make their Fresh Hop and Wet Hop brews. Need a beer to get over the Hump today - check out the latest in the #nocobeernews - Here's what's happening around the Northern Colorado craft beer scene today, Wednesday, August 10th, 2016. Boulder County Breweries

Asher Brewing Company is planning to release their whiskey barrel-aged Ginger Khan beer this Friday, August 12th. This is a big imperial 10.9% ABV brew that was made with 12 pounds of ginger added to the kettle. Also on site that day serving food will be The SmokeWagon BBQ starting at 5:30pm. Cellar West Artisan Ales - Progress is being made towards opening this small brewery in Boulder. They gotten their tasting room nearly complete. Work still needs to be done to finish the restrooms, and some of the support infrastructure. Their bar top is done and was made with reclaimed wood from bowling alleys. The federal licensing is taking a long time, but they are hopeful that it will be approved in the near future. Right now, they are looking for a November 2016 opening. While they wait for licensing, they have been doing some collaboration brews with Wild Woods Brewery - one such brew being a Saison. Look for a bottle release of that in the next couple months. Fate Brewing Company - There's several recently tapped beers now available at Fate. Stop in to try: Watermelon Gose, Passion Fruit Saison, Sour Moirai, Chocolate Coffee Blonde, Dark Sour Saison and Moscow Mule Blonde. One or more of these are bound to suit your fancy. Front Range Brewing Company - Just in time for Small Batch Wednesday, Front Range Brewing has tapped a Belgian Witbier. This beer was made with sweet and bitter orange peel, coriander and seeds of paradise. It's very sessionable at 4.9% ABV. Located at: 400 W South Boulder Rd, Ste 1650, Lafayette, CO.

Großen Bart Brewery - Timing is everything. And if you get over to Großen Bart between 7:00pm and 7:30pm then you'll enjoy $1 Pints. That's pints for just a buck! So don't be late. Live music tonight from Moose & Possum. Also, the Samples Food Truck will be on site. Located at: 1025 Delaware Ave, Longmont, CO.

J Wells Brewery - It's Hump Day - that means $10 growler fills all day long. Located at: 2516 49th St, Ste #5, Boulder, CO.

Left Hand Brewing Company has set the date for their Oktoberfest Marzen Lager release - Friday, August 26th. There will be a release party in their tasting room from 5-8pm that day. About time to get your lederhosen out! Located at: 1265 Boston Ave, Longmont, CO.

The Old Mine - Looking to try something different? Try The Old Mine's Cinnawhiskeybar, a hard cider with notes of cinnamon and whiskey. Come get a glass this week. Located at: 500 Briggs St, Erie, CO.

Sanitas Brewing - I hear that train a comin'... Train 16 English Pub Ale that is. It's their 16th beer in their popular Train Series and it's now on tap. It weighs in at 4.5% ABV and 24 IBUs and makes for a sessionable brew with a mild hop character and a touch of honey malt. And it's on special for $2.50 a pint for 15 minutes after a train goes by! Shoes & Brews - Hey runners! Don't forget about Thursday night's Social Run tomorrow starting at 6:00pm at Shoes & Brews. Newton Running will be doing demos and Epic Brewing Company beers will be featured after the run. All abilities and ages welcome to join in. Located at: 63 S Pratt Pkwy, Unit B, Longmont, CO.

Twisted Pine Brewing Company - Every week, Twisted Pine hosts special events. On the 1st Monday of the month it's Board Game Night with OutBoudler from 6-9pm. Every Tuesday is All Day Happy Hour plus Open Mic Night from 6-8pm. Every Wednesday night from 6:30pm to 8:30pm in the taproom its Geeks Who Drink Trivia. Every Friday they offer all day Happy Hour Pitchers. And the 1st Friday of the month they'll host live music from 7-9pm. Mark your calendars and join in. Plenty of craft brew and good food. Walnut Brewery - Drop by tomorrow, Thursday August 11th at 6pm for the release of their Salamander Amber Ale. They'll even give you a complimentary pint of it between 6:00pm and 6:30pm. From August 11th through September 7th, they'll donate 50 cents from every pint sold to the Sacred Valley Project who aims to improve access to education for young women from remote areas of the Andes. Wibby Brewing - Mark your calendars for Saturday, September 3rd from 4pm to 11:45pm - that's the date set for Wibby Brewing's 1 Year Anniversary Party. At the party will be some special guests. Join in for a Free Kung Fu show. The celebration will start on the Main Stage at 4pm with supporting acts Dueling Ukes and Interstate Stash Express. Kung Fu takes the stage at 6:15pm for two full sets! Cat Jerky will finish the night off with an after party show indoors. Wild Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery - There are new Business Hours posted for Wild Mountain. They are now CLOSED every Tuesday and Wednesday. They will be open Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays 11am to 8pm and Fridays and Saturdays from 11am to 9pm. Just so ya know! The Hop Digitty IPA and wings will still be there. Wild Woods Brewery - Tonight the Colorado Mountain Club (CMC) will be in the house from 5-8pm for another Peak Happy Hour. $1 from each pint sold goes back to CMC. Event is open to the public. Come celebrate all things outdoors. Then on Thursday, August 11th stop back for the release of Sunflower Lager. This small batch will be available on draft and in bomber bottles while they last. 1933 Brewing Company - Love to dance? Then plan to bring a partner for the next Dance Night at 1933 Brewing on Saturday, August 27th from 6pm to 9pm. Live dance music from Queen Bee and the Stingers. That plus plenty of fresh 1933 brews on tap. Located at: 4025 S Mason St, Fort Collins, CO.

Big Thompson Brewery - Wednesday mean 1/2 off Growler Fills at Big T. They're also hosting a Pint Night for the Big Thompson Watershed Coalition tonight starting at 5pm. Stop by and stock up on growlers. Located at: 114 E 15th St, Loveland, CO.

Black Bottle Brewery - The seasons first Fresh Hop beer will be tapped this Saturday, August 13th at 11am. Come for the release of Black Bottle's "Hydroponics Fresh Hop IPA". They used over 50 pounds of Centennial, Cascade and Chink hops in the boil and then stuffed more in for dry hopping. Come taste what truly fresh hops will do for a beer. City Star Brewing - Taproom Trivia happens tonight from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. Try your best to win some City Star beer tokens ($20 worth). Also, there is a full line-up of live music this week. Thursday is Melody Pond from 7-9:30pm. Friday brings Honeytree from 7pm to 9:30pm. And on Saturday, listen to Jim Jamm Jimmy from 7pm to 9:30pm. Located at: 321 Mountain Ave, Berthoud, CO.

Funkwerks - There are two beer releases planned for this month. The first, Deceit / Rum Barrel-Aged, is a big 9% ABV Belgian-style golden ale due out mid-August. It has notes of fresh pineapple and a hint of coconut along with the bonus of spice and oak. Availability: draft and 750ml bottles. Then near the end of the month, look forward to Funkwerks Cascade, a single hopped saison ale. Cascade hops take center stage and impart notes of fruit, citrus and spice. This 6.6% ABV brew will also be available on draft and in 750ml bottles. Located at: 1900 E Lincoln Ave, Fort Collins, CO.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse - Their stash of Bier De Grimm is nearly gone - so to finish it off they are offering $4 off growler fills of it today. You can also get $2 off growler fills on everything else. Happy Hump Day! Also, get ready for the release of their Farmer's Daughter Oktoberfest Lager set for August 20th. Horse & Dragon Brewing Company shared news of an upcoming event for beer enthusiasts - "Front Range Ferment: BREWniversity" happening at 4 different Fort Collins breweries including: Horse & Dragon, Odell Brewing, Pateros Creek Brewery and New Belgium. Join in for a day of tasting delicious experimental beers brewed by students from the CSU Fermentation Science & Technology Program in cooperation with Fort Collins breweries. Students will apply the knowledge and skills they’ve learned in the classroom, working with industry leaders to create experimental, limited-edition beers using ingredients from the Whole Foods Market store in Fort Collins. Each brewery will showcase their special edition beer from 11am to 3pm on September 10th. Along with exclusive beer tastings, Whole Foods Market’s Prepared Foods Team will work with students and brewers to create food pairings for each of the special edition beers. Attendees will receive a drink token for each beer and a "school supply" bag containing a commemorative koozie, pint glass, and offers from Whole Foods Market Fort Collins vendors. Guests will indulge in food pairings carefully prepared by Whole Foods Market Fort Collins chefs at each of the brewery stops. All ticket proceeds will go back to the CSU Fermentation Science and Technology Program. Get tickets at Eventbrite. Tickets are $20 for students (21+) and $25 for General admission.

Loveland Aleworks - Their "Oatmeal Chocolate Stout" is set to be released this Friday, August 12th at 12 noon. It's dark, rich, decadent and very smooth. You'll want a pint of this batch! Located at: 118 W 4th St, Loveland, CO.

Snowbank Brewing CO - Today is Wear it Wednesday! Be sure to wear your Snowbank gear to the taproom today and get $1 off your pints. Also, if you purchase any Snowbank gear you'll get a free pint. Open today from 2pm to 8pm. Located at: 225 N Lemay Ave, Ste 1, Fort Collins, CO.

Soul Squared Brewing Company - Good news! If you love eating at Vern's Place in Laporte, CO then you'll be happy to know that Soul Squared is now part of Vern's family. They now have Soul Squared brews on tap. Enjoy one out on Vern's patio. Vern's Place is located at: 4120 W County Road 54G, Laporte, CO.

Verboten Brewing has announced an upcoming beer release set for Saturday, August 27th at 12pm. That's when they'll tap "Laze About Peach Habanero Golden Ale". And for the 1st time this brew will be available in 22oz bomber bottles. A delicious mix of Colorado peaches and habaneros and jalapenos. That day they'll open up the brewhouse for tours, plus Rebel Popcorn will be giving out free samples of their spicy Peach Habanero popcorn. Party runs til 4pm. Broken Plow Brewery - Wednesday means Trivia at The Plow starting at 7pm. There will be five rounds of questions and five customized prizes and Free beer to be won. Bring a friend and compete as a team. Plus their Razzlemedazzleberry Wheat goes on tap tonight too! Located at: 4731 W 10th St, Unit G, Greeley, CO.

High Hops Brewery - Today's Happy Firkin Hump Day tapping will be "Hefe Fuggin Metal", a black hefeweizen brewed with lots of malts to bring it to a big 9% ABV. It taps at 5pm. Food truck tonight is Chaulkboard Gourmet Express starting at 4pm. Located at: 6461 State Hwy 392, Windsor, CO.

WeldWerks Brewing Company is bringing back their Blackberry Berliner to the tap lines today. It's a tart, dry kettle soured German wheat ale made with a big load of blackberries. This will be their last batch of it for the summer so when it's gone, it's gone til next year. Available on draft and in crowler cans (limit 2 per person @ $12 each). Also, stop in for Geeks Who Drink Pub Quizzes tonight and every Wednesday at 7pm. Located at: 508 8th Ave, Greeley, CO.

Wiley Roots Brewing Company - According to the Greeley Tribune today, this week Wiley Roots started brewing a batch of a wet hop American Pale Ale that was made from donated hops from local homebrewer Eric Reinsvold. Eric approaches Wiley Roots to see if they wanted to use a pound of fresh hops from his garden and Wiley Roots said YES! The brew is now in the fermenters and should be ready in about 2 weeks from now. This will be a small batch - just 20 gallons - so it will go quickly. More details on the release coming soon.
