[Northern Colorado Beer News] - There's a special aroma in the air at most local breweries - it's FRESH HOPS. It's the hop harvest time and a multitude of NoCo breweries are making their fresh hop beers this week. Some of them are tapping this weekend! It's one of the best times of the year to appreciate the aroma and flavor of fresh cut hops in a beer. Here's what's happening around the Northern Colorado craft beer scene today, Wednesday, August 31st, 2016. If you aren't reading this article on, you're not getting the full story.

12Degree Brewing - It's back on tap! 12Degree has brought back their popular Grapefruit Express Pale Ale this week. It has the aroma of citrus from the Citra hops and a dash of grapefruit in the taste. it pours with a bright white foamy head. They also have 11 other brews on tap today. Open today from 4pm to 11pm. 300 Suns Brewing - Want a chance to win a kegerator from Wyatt's Wet Goods filled with a sixtel of 300 Suns craft beer? Better grab your ticket soon for the upcoming 3rd Annual Chili Cook Off & Craft Beer, Cider + Spirits Tasting event set for Saturday, September 10th from 2-5pm at the brewery parking lot. Avery Brewing Company - Avery Brewing in collaboration with FREESKIER Magazine will soon debut a new ski season kickoff beer this Thursday, September 8th at a release party at Avery Brewing from 5pm to 9pm. At the party they will debut: "Pow Day IPA". At the event there will be live music from The Goonies 80's cover band (6-8pm), plus a gear raffle, yard games, free beer (21+ only). Boulder Beer Company - It's the hop harvest season and the crew was busy last night sorting through a huge delivery of fresh Cascade hops from Still Wind Farm in Hotchkiss, Colorado. These hops were added to a big batch of beer that will soon be released in September. Watch for "Harvest 16 Fresh-hopped Peach Pale Ale" and be ready to embrace fresh hop beer! BRU Handbuilt Ales - It's fresh hop season and today BRU is making a batch of CO2 Colorado Pale Ale with some freshly picked garden hops. Look for this beer to be available sometime in September. Located at: 5290 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder, CO.

Fate Brewing Co - Boulder Association of Firefighters IAFF Local 900 and FATE Brewing Co. invite you to have a pouring of "Local 900's Thor Strong." Money raised from this beer will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Please come out and support the mission of MDA and help everyone work towards finding a cure for muscle disease! Left Hand Brewing Co - Do you love fresh hops? Left Hand just took delivery of twenty five big bags of fresh cascade hops from Paonia yesterday and will use those to make this year's batch of Warrior IPA - made with Colorado fresh hops. Nothing like the smell of Cascade hops in the morning! Also, this Saturday (Sept. 3rd) Left Hand and Busted Sandal Brewing Company will tap a collaboration beer "On Your Left Heffe". All proceeds of this beer go to National MS Society, Texas. Located at: 1265 Boston Ave, Longmont, CO.

Odd13 Brewing - Have you had one yet? Odd13 recently tapped their "Liftmaster 13,000", a Biere da Garage brew. They open fermented this saison and it goes well on a late summer evening. They also have a Berliner Weisse made with Rocky Ford melons called "Rocky Melons Berliner Weisse". Available on draft and in cans too. Located at: 301 E Simpson St, Lafayette, CO.

The Old Mine - Starting in September, The Old Mine will be closed on Mondays for the Fall and Winter. They will also be closed this Sunday, September 4th and on Labor Day.

Powder Keg Brewing Co - Tim from Oskar Blues Brewery joined in with the Powder Keg crew this morning in the brewhouse for a collaboration beer they've been planning for the past few weeks! They're brewing a single malt Barke Pilsner with 2 experimental German hops; Callista and Ariana. Keep an eye out for the beer to launch during #GABF at Powder Keg, Oskar Blues Homemade Liquids and Solids, CYCLHOPS Bike CANtina and Oskar Blues Grill & Brew | Lyons, CO. Sanitas Brewing - Plan now to attend Sanitas Brewing's 3rd Anniversary Party set for Saturday, September 10th at 11:30am to 11pm. There will be a yoga class by All Terrain Yoga's glowing Jenna Bee, a cornhole tourney with prizes, their first bottle release and exclusive beers/tappings all day, the Second Annual Taco Eating Contest put on by McDevitt Taco Supply, and music by the Sixty Minute Men! Twisted Pine Brewing Co - Recent beer tappings you'll want to try: "Evil Kitty" American Session Black Ale and starting today "Hop Zealot" is back on tap! Stop in for a bite and a brew or two. Located at: 3201 Walnut St, Boulder, CO.

Upslope Brewing Co - Upslope has fresh hop fever as they just used over 400 pounds of local Colorado Nugget & Cascade today to brew up their Fresh Hop IPA. Look for this one to be available early in September. Also for you homebrewers, stop by the Flatiron Park taproom today and score a few ounces of their leftover hops for your next brew. Vindication Brewing Co - Now available on draft and in 6-pack bottles - Vindication India Pale Ale. Look for the green packaging at a store in the Boulder County area. Located at: 6880 Winchester Circle, Boulder, CO.

Walnut Brewery - Join in on September 8th for their September Tapping Party when they partner with the Children's Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program. Rodney will be tapping an Oktoberfest Marzen Beer at 6pm with 1 complimentary pint per person. 50 cents of every Marzen sold for the next 4 weeks will go to help the kids attend the annual burn camp. Representatives of Children's Hospital Colorado Burn Camps Program will be in attendance to talk about this worthy program. Located at: 1123 Walnut St, Boulder, CO.

West Flanders Brewing Co - It must be harvest season as West Flanders has joined the throng of local brewers who are brewing up Wet / Fresh hop beers this week. Look for their brew to be tapped by mid-September. Located at: 1125 Pearl St, Boulder, CO.

Wibby Brewing - During their 1 year Anniversary Party this Saturday, September 3rd, Wibby Brewing will be brewing a Fresh Hop Lager! Anyone who brings 10 cans or more of non-perishable food will be allowed to help receive, weigh, and add fresh Cascade hops to their brew. These hops will be delivered at 3 pm from La Russo Hop Farms. All canned food collected will be donated to Community Food Share. Wild Woods Brewery - SAVE THE DATE - Wild Woods Brewery's Four Year Anniversary Party - Saturday, September 24th 1-9pm! Big Beaver Brewing Co - In case you missed it last week, Big Beaver has re-released two beers that you'll want to check out: Kama Citra White IPA and their seasonal Oktoberfest Märzen. Enjoy them while they last. Located at: 2707 W Eisenhower Blvd, Unit 9, Loveland, CO.

Big Thompson Brewery - A beer so good they decided to release it early. Today, Big Thompson Brewery is tapping "Otto's Oktoberfest" Ozapft is! Prost! It's an awesome seasonal brew weighing in at 5.5% ABV. Come celebrate the harvest season! Also, starting Friday, September 9th, Big Thompson Brewery will be hosting "Fall into FUN Friday Nights". Buckhorn Brewers - Over the last weekend, Buckhorn Brewers released a new beer - "Winter White IPA". This beer was made with all wheat and no barley. Stats: 7.5% ABV and 73 IBU. Also, their Krueger Porter is now on tap as well. Plus! Their Never Summers' Wit is back as well. They will be open Thursday through Sunday. City Star Brewing - The list of breakfast themed beers for Flap Jack Day (September 5th) has been finalized. In addition to FREE flap jacks at the brewery, they will also have these awesome beers: Maple Brown, Coffee Stout, Blueberry Lager, and Peach Belgian - plus 1 more!
