Beer and Books to be featured at FoCo Book Fest

Here's a pairing that you don't often hear about - beer and books. An upcoming event in Fort Collins will be "Brewin' Up Books". Check out the details about this unique gathering of speakers, books and brews.


Coffee, tea, beer, and the literary arts are front and center at book festival

[Press Release] (FORT COLLINS, Colo., September 27, 2016) — The FoCo Book Fest comes to Old Town Fort Collins for the inaugural book fest, “Brewin’ Up Books,” held Saturday, October 22 from 9:00am to 7:00pm. The free, one-day festival will feature 50 local, national, and international authors and speakers in nearly 40 sessions (panels, keynotes, readings, book signings, writing workshops, and classes) at venues throughout Old Town Fort Collins.

The full list of authors and the schedule appear at The award-winning lineup of presenters blends together wide ranging topics like “Beer, Books and What Makes us Human,” “The Ethics of Brewing,” and “Hand-Crafted Poetry,” as well as the keynote presentation “The Books that Made Me.”

Other highlights include appearances by Governor John Hickenlooper; New Belgium Brewing beer master Peter Bouckaert; award-winning poet Katrina Roberts; internationally-known beer expert Horst Dornbusch; journalist and coffee historian Mark Pendergrast; and brewery founder Doug Odell.

Among the many local writers speaking at the festival will be Sarah Hahn Campbell, Emily Hutto, Richard Keller, Karla Oceanak, Laura Pritchett, Laura Resau, Eleni Sikelianos, and Ed Sealover, as well as faculty and students from CSU’s creative writing program. Current and former Fort Collins Poet Laureates will also be featured.

To kick off the festival, theatre professor, performer and director, Dennis Elkins, will appear in a special History Comes Alive performance as the American writer O.Henry on October 20 at 7:00pm at Old Town Library.
